When I expressed my love of this scent to an employee one year, they suggested that I try Superworldunknown - a perfume that is described as smelling of 'candy floss and sparkling bubbles' - one that would supposedly appeal to fans of the seasonal shower gel that I couldn't live without. I bought myself a solid stick of the fragrance and headed out the shop.
What I need to establish immediately is that this fragrance isn't anything like the sweet, simple and rather youthful shower gel it has been compared to - it's like a Snow Fairy child all grown up. This perfume has so many different notes that it's hard to know where to start - with lime, lemon, neroli, bergamot, sandalwood and cassia oil as well as a dash of cocoa, vanilla and rose absolute, this is far more sophisticated and hearty than I was initially expecting.
Out of the bottle, you can immediately detect the citrus oils - a tart orange, lemon and lime note that adds a subtle bitterness to the perfume. The inclusion of cocoa and vanilla helps to round this perfume out without adding too much emphasis on their individual smells. Next there's a strong but not overpowering dry floral scent which comes from the rose and ylang ylang - it's definitely present but it takes more of a backstage position in the mix. Finally, there's a woody afterthought from the sandalwood - a nice touch that just gives it an edge of complexity that I like. Lush describe it as smelling of 'candy floss, sherbet fountains, toffee apples and the seaside' with a mature, more sophisticated edge that will see fans of the simpler, youthful candy smells progress onto more robust, stronger scents.
On the skin, the perfume matures quite a bit and within 20-30 minutes, you'll begin to pick out those sweeter, candied elements that were somewhat thwarted behind the sandalwood and floral elements to begin with. While it's life span isn't over ally impressive, it does last for a number of hours on the skin - continuing to exude different layers of scent as it matures.
While it's not a perfume that I initially fell in love with, it is one that has grown on me over time and I've come to appreciate a lot more in recent years. I would describe it as a unisex fragrance, despite the more feminine appeal. However, it does tend to smells quite feminine once it's been sitting on the skin for a while and those that may find it quite strong to begin with, may appreciate it more when it's had time to develop.
