Today we are discussing our fears and how to overcome them ..What's your biggest fear in life? Some fear death,some fear failure, others fear rats,diseases etc..
My dad once told me a story,his childhood friend had a phobia and fear of road accidents after watching his father die in one.He was so scared that ,that fear enveloped his mind,his thoughts and he couldn't do a thing.
He would refuse to travel because of he was scared of road accidents,plane crashes etc.If he heard a car screech,he would scream. So one day ,they were going on an important project excursion and they all took the bus.As fate would have it, the bus developed a fault and lost control ..The driver was struggling to steer the bus to safety and before you could say Jack Robinson, his friend opened the window and jumped out ,instantly smashing his head and died on the spot..
All those in the bus survived..The fear of not dying ended up killing him..
My biggest fear is the fear of not doing things because I feel the time isn't right..In essence,procrastination .Oh! I will do it tomorrow, oh I will do it when the sun goes down..Etc I have such a phobia for failure that I want everything to first be perfect....However,I have come to realize that is the high road to failure.
There are projects I know I wanted to do but because I kept postponing, I have watched others take on those same ideas and made something out of them.
There is no perfect time to start something,just DO IT ..So, whenever that spirit of procrastinating comes, I force myself up and I just do IT..perfect or not.So far,it's been a rewarding experience ..
And oh! I fear cockroaches and snakes .My God...I don't even want to set eyes on them ..lol
