Christmas is Over

Christmas comes on like a bulldozer.  It literally sweeps away all things and purpose between Thanksgiving and New Years.  It dominates, distracts and brings its own brand of stress to millions of people.

That is because they get caught up in the commercialism and the need to find the just perfect gift for that special someone.  I mentioned a woman who said matter of fact she shopped for 50 people.

I saw her shortly after the holiday in the super market, she was going to go on vacation, she needed to.  She had the thousand yard stare imprinted on her face and I was genuinely concerned for her well being.

But thankfully she and apparently did millions of others survive the maelstrom.

I know Christmas is over when I see  the tree on the curb.  Mine hit the street on January 1.  My wife complained it was starting to smell.  I smelled nothing until I dragged it out the door and suddenly I smelled pine , the heavenly scent of pine, as if I were in a pine forest.  The combination of fresh air and the Christmas Tree bloomed strong pine scent.   Yup, starting to smell alright, that is if pine scent can be considered starting to smell.

I think the trees true offense was that it dropped a few needles , which annoyed my wife's sense of orderliness.  Oh , my Gad, needles on the floor, quick get the dust buster.

I also know that Christmas is over when the last box of Trade Joe's Pfefferneuse has been opened and there are but 3 cookies left. Oh, the humanity of having to wait another full year before the reappear.
Thankfully I have entered my E Mail address on the Pfefferneuse early delivery alert system. I shall be at Trader Joes on Black Friday next year to meet the shipment.  This year I almost forgot and found myself rushing to the store before  they were gone.  As it were there were a number of people seen leaving the stores with powdered sugar covering their mouths, chins and ample bellies..  I was still able to get my required 3 boxes.  Just the right number to hit the mark and stretch through. and keep the sugar off the belly.

But I really know when the holidays are over when I see the merchandise changeover at the Warehouse stores.

These were seen on January 2,2016.  The Holidays are over.  No lie.
