Dear friends,
The 2014 Winter Olympics changed my life.
We worked with activists in Russia to deliver over 300,000 signatures to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). We demanded that at the Sochi Olympics, no one would fear for their safety because of who they love – or at any other Olympics in the future.
We were heard loud and clear. The IOC officially banned discrimination based on sexual orientation. While all eyes were on one of the most notoriously anti-gay countries in the world, All Out members changed history.
The Olympics are headed to Brazil next year – my own country – and I can tell you for certain that our work is hardly over. It's estimated that every 27 hours, a lesbian, gay, bi, or trans person is killed in Brazil. Next year's Olympics give us a unique chance to put a spotlight on those terrifying numbers. But it just won't be possible without your support.

This month, All Out is celebrating its fifth anniversary. There are lots of amazing moments from these past five years. But time and time again, I always come back to what we did in Sochi.
We got 50 Olympic athletes and celebrities like Rihanna, Mark Ruffalo, and Zachary Quinto to join our campaign. Love and equality became the name of the games.
But it didn't end there. More than 150,000 All Out members emailed Coca-Cola – a sponsor of the Olympics – urging the company to denounce Russia's anti-gay laws. We funded massive billboards on wheels to swarm their headquarters. We whipped up a media storm and helped get three national Olympics sponsors in the U.S. to publicly denounce the anti-gay laws.
This is the power of our movement: when we all work together, we can do anything. When all eyes are on Brazil in 2016, we can change history again – but only if we have your support.
