Best friends,
The largest casino in Russia opened this month in a new tourist zone in the far east, and it is named after Siberia's most famous wild animal. Unfortunately, instead of honoring the area's wildlife, they are drugging a Siberian tiger cub and dragging it through the casino. Sign Sammy's Care2 petition urging Tigre de Cristal Casino to release their tiger cub to a sanctuary!
In addition to the roulette wheels, slot machines and gaming tables, Tigre de Cristal paid nearly $7,000 for a Siberian tiger cub to add to the flash and spectacle of Russia's newest and largest casino.
Bad luck for the casino, as this bet isn't paying off. The region is fiercely protective of the endangered species, which currently numbers fewer than 500 animals in the wild. The public response to the use of the cub was immediate and negative.
Sergei Aramilev of the Russian conservation organization Amur Tiger Centre is quoted in Russian media saying, "In terms of moral and ethical aspects, it is not good."
Care2 member Sammy Hartery has several years of experience working with veterinary clinics and wildlife. She knew that the experience would be horribly stressful for Crystal the cub, so she started a Care2 petition as soon as she heard about the casino's horrible decision.
Join the local outrage, and amplify the call to the casino to rethink its use of Crystal the cub. They are desperate for good opening press, so now is the perfect time to convince them to release her to a sanctuary! Sign Sammy's petition urging Tigre de Cristal to do the right thing for this wild animal - send it back to the wild!
