We have the world's leaders collecting in France . Putting their heads together to push an agenda dealing with global warming.
At the same time there seems to be no real consensus as to the cause of global warming. Is it man made, it is part of a normal cycle, does it even exist.
For a long time I have had my doubts about the whole global warming program. What I have no doubt about, however , is the idea that we have some really very severe environmental issues. They are so severe that future generations will have a severely reduced life style.
One needs only to look at the photos coming out of Peking showing the dark, deadly smog enveloping the city to know that there is a problem.
I however, think that the problem is one of over population. We are a species whose procreative talents are outstripping our world's ability to provide for the population. We are bursting at the seams in places like India, South American, Africa. We have too many hungry, thirsty people to keep a lid on things for too long.
Yet out leaders seemingly do not want to have any discussion on this topic. It is literally too hot to handle. It will bring leadership squarely into conflict with religion and religiouls dogma
This problem will not go away and when they tell us that there are life shattering issues , they must spell them out even if it means that religious leadership must be pulled into the fray. We now have the potential for immeasurable human suffering if our world can not provide enough water. Imagine a drought a famine , what a catastrophe when we have run square up against the limits of the world to feed and clothe.
I do not believe we can ignore one over the other. C'mon leaders you really need to start talking straight.
Maybe I need to stop reading National Geographic and stop worrying so much.
