Today the Sudanese organized a demonstration, supported by all communities in the jungle, to protest after the death of 16 year old Youssouf, hit by a car on the motorway two days ago. Yesterday, an Ethiopian man who is still unknown died in similar circumstances. At least three people are in hospital in serious condition after being hit by vehicles, many more are in hospital after they either injured themselves trying to cross or where injured by police. The police, with at least 10 CRS vans and numerous Gendarmes, prevented the peaceful protest from leaving the jungle. After an hour of a non violent confrontation, the people returned to the jungle and held a vigil in front of Jules Ferry centre, and a meeting in which was decided to keep mobilized, and keep protesting for freedom of movement and against the deaths at the border, the inhumane living conditions and the violence by police. It is thought that numbers and unity between communities in the jungle can help breaking the state of siege in which the refugees find themselves in the new jungle/ ghetto, and they are asking for French and international support to do this.

Aujourd’hui, le Soudanaises organisé une manifestation, soutenue par toutes les communautés dans la jungle, pour protester la mort de Youssouf, 17 ans, percuté par une voiture sur l’autoroute. Le lendemain un Ethiopien qui est encore inconnu est mort dans des circonstances similaires. Au moins trois personnes sont en hôpital dans un état séreus, beaucoup d’autres sont a l’hôpital blessés en essayant de traverser ou blessées par la police. La police a empêché la manifestation pacifique de quitter la jungle. Après une confrontation pacifique d’ une heure, les gens ont retourné dans la jungle et ont tenu une veillée devant Jules Ferry et une réunion à laquelle a été décidé de garder mobilisés, et de garder pour protester pour la liberté de mouvement, contre les morts à la frontière, les conditions de vie inhumaines et à la violence par la police. On pense aussi que le nombre, l’unité et le soutien de gens peuvent à briser l’état de siège dans lequel les réfugiés se trouvent dans la nouvelle jungle / ghetto.
