Reading through the mainstream media coverage of the climate negotiations in Paris
(CoP21), one could hardly understand the event as anything other than ‘a real turning
point in human history’ (Irish Times). The heroic work of the French delegates had
achieved ‘the world’s greatest diplomatic success’ (the Guardian), indeed the deal was not
short of ‘a major leap for mankind’ (quote from summit leaders). ---- The negotiations are
presented almost uniformly as an overwhelming success of international compromise – a
strong response to an important problem. Criticism, qualifications or broader discussion
make it only into the last few lines if at all. ---- Regrettably this framing of the CoP21
outcome is wildly inappropriate. While true that the world’s governments have officially
agreed to limit warming to 1.5°C, a justifiable target, the plans to back up what would be
a dramatic emissions reductions are brazenly absent. The published plans instead add up to
a total warming of almost twice the professed aim – an estimated warming of between 2.2°C
and 3.4°C, well beyond the level of warming necessary to trigger cataclysmic climate change.
To anyone with even a vague interest in climate change, one would think this point would
occupy primacy – our leaders have signed a deal guaranteeing climatic destruction, have
lied about it and are now expecting us to celebrate it. Alas the sophistry of modern media
is used to quell and pacify, for fear a truly informed public may be agitated by the
prospect of a coordinated death sentence for our species and planet, in service to energy
corporations and short term profit.
Other critiques which have proven unable to rise above the tide of euphoria dominating the

the military. There was a lot of tear gas used against civilians and houses. Houses where
innocent people live, men, women, children and the sick. The soldiers do not care about

of whom minors, residents of Nabi Saleh staged their Friday demonstration, defying Israeli
brutality. Protesters marched along the main road, which is often closed by the IDF as
punitive measure, and confronted the soldiers, who fired many barrages of tear gas and
rubber-coated steel bullets. No major injuries reported. Meanwhile, two more Palestinians
were killed by the IDF in the nearby village of ‘Aboud and on road 60 north of Ramallah.,

11-12-15 Commemorating the village's martyrs Mustafa and Rushdi Tamimi, activists from
Nabi Saleh marched from the village's main square towards the main road and the
checkpoint. Four years ago, Mustafa Tamimi, 28, was shot and killed by an Israeli soldiers
who was sitting inside an armoured vehicle and aimed his weapon directly at Tamimi's head.
The village's women spelled Mustafa's name with stones, and then some of the children
proceeded towards the main gate with footballs. The Israeli soldiers targeted the children
with tear gas canisters. They were also using new and improved tear gas launchers that has
a much bigger range. In addition, the soldiers also fired rubber-coated steel bullets,
injuring several protesters.

The demonstration, which began near the local gas station, marched along the main road
towards the checkpoint, where soldiers attempted to disperse protesters with tear gas and

It is International Struggle Against Racism Day! But here we have no such struggle. Racism
and its daughter – cruelty – are running wild, unimpeded. After the army yesterday
confiscated all the temporary shelters and tents brought by the International Red Cross,
as well as rods and other equipment, tonight the people of Al Hadidiya sheltered
themselves under nylon sheets. It was raining, not hard but still annoying and wet. In the
middle of the night the Israeli army arrived, removed the nylon sheets and took them away.

The day after the anniversary of the storming of Venaus, 9 December 2013 No Tav four were
arrested on charges of bombing the purposes of terrorism, for an action to sabotage the
construction site on May 14 last year. On that occasion it was damaged compressor, soon
repaired and resold. A charge that has taken away their lives, their suffering, the
struggles Chiara, Claudio, Matthew and Nicholas. A few months later it was the turn of
Francis, Graziano and Lucio. ---- Last December the four No Tav were acquitted of
terrorism and sentenced to three and a half years for corruption and use of weapons of
war. ---- A few months later also Francesco Graziano and Lucio were sentenced to two years
and eight months for the the same episode.
Real democracy admits dissent, except where there is mere opinion, the mere exercise of
eloquence, trivial word game. If dissent becomes active, if you do direct action if the
risk of blowing up the rules of a fierce game, real democracy fielding every weapon to
bend those who challenge the decisions and, therefore, the very legitimacy.
It does so with lightness, because he knows that the illusion of democracy is strong
enough to obscure a device that closes deal with any opposition that is not suited to the
role of mere testimony.
The charge of terrorism was disproved in the Assize Court and again in the Supreme Court,
but the prosecutor did not give up.
At the appeal trial against Chiara, Claudio Mattia and Nicolò Attorney General Marcello

that the act itself is a small thing, what matters is its symbolic significance, its
ability to erode the confidence of the opponent, a drop, along with many others. could dig
down deep.
How can we deny that this is the purpose of each movement? How to not take the harsh
attack any form of direct action against the Tav?
According Maddalena Matteo Renzi, contrary to the work before taking responsibility of
government, it has become an advocate when he became prime minister, because he would have
realized that the failure to complete the work would undermine democracy.
The No Tav have known this for a long time that is no longer (only) a matter of trains, is
