Is An Advocate For Open Borders And Sanctuary Cities About To Head The U.S. Border Patrol?

FOX News: Sources: Vocal supporter of sanctuary cities on short list to be next head of Border Patrol

A former San Francisco police chief and vocal supporter of a sanctuary cities policy is on a short list of candidates to become the new chief of the Border Patrol, according to sources.

As police chief, Heather Fong shielded illegal immigrants, including aliens who committed crimes, from deportation. In contrast, it is the job of the U.S. Border Patrol to catch and deport all illegal immigrants, including those with a criminal history.

"If they bring (a police chief) in for political purposes based on the sanctuary cities model, that politicizes the job and I think it completely undermines credibility and morale in the organization," House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mike McCaul, R-Texas, told Fox News.

"If you have someone who is advocating for sanctuary cities, that's the opposite side. They welcome these illegal immigrants to stay in the country. And so I think it's at cross-purpose with the mission itself."

WNU Editor: It looks like someone in the Border Patrol learned that this vocal supporter for sanctuary cities was on the short list for the job, and leaked it to the press. My brother in turn gave me a heads up on this story (he lives south of San Francisco), and who has warned me about her before she lost her post in last week's election. My brother was always an advocate for open borders and immigration and sanctuary cities .... until .... an illegal crashed into his new car, and in the second case he confronted two illegals who had broken into his home (one ran away but he pinned one of them until the police arrived) .... and all of this has occurred within the past 6 months. Not surprising .... he is now wondering if "open borders" is maybe not a good idea. As to what is my take .... one does not have to be a genius to know that such an appointment will end any serious border control or enforcement .... which from a national security point of view will be a disaster. And while I doubt that she will get the job, you just cannot help but feel that President Obama would just love to have her appointed to the position.
