Daily Mail: Migrant summit in chaos as African countries REFUSE to take back Europe's failed asylum seekers
* European Union offered more than £1billion in aid to African counterparts
* In return, Africa would have to take back thousands of illegal migrants
* But the controversial deal was rejected at a summit in Valletta, Malta
* Cameron says £200million of UK aid money will be used to tackle crisis
The European Union has been forced to drop controversial plans to deport failed asylum seekers who do not have passports after African countries blocked the move.
European leaders offered more than £1billion aid in a bid to persuade their African counterparts to take back tens of thousands of illegal migrants.
But a migration summit in Valletta, Malta, descended into farce after the Africans rejected the EU plan to expel those who do not qualify for asylum using special papers.
WNU Editor: Most (if not all) African countries are not interested in taking back their citizens who are fleeing to Europe .... they are more focused on encouraging and assisting even more to go. I have friends in Kenya .... they tell me that the media and government officials are actively playing up the advantages of immigrating to Europe (i.e. the benefits, economic opportunity, the ability to send money back home,, etc.). After-all .... why should African accept a billion dollars in aid from the EU when they know that their citizens who are in Europe will be sending back a hundred times more via through remittances. This is just another example on how clueless EU officials and politicians are in stemming the migration crisis .... they do not understand the economics on why these migrants (with their government's encouragement) are now coming by the hundreds of thousands.
