Dear Luc,
He won’t back down. Governor Gary Herbert received signatures from over 23,000 All Out members, asking him not to speak at the anti-gay World Congress of Families conference. But he’s still going to welcome this global hate group to Salt Lake City, Utah, next week.
Governor Herbert is only getting away with this because people in Utah don't realise just how toxic this hate group really is. Can you believe that they wanted gay people to be thrown in jail in Uganda, supported Russia's anti-gay law, and fought against marriage equality all over the world?
But together, we can embarrass him into cancelling his speech. If we all chip in, we can make sure that hundreds of thousands of people in Utah discover what their Governor is up to.
Fight back against this anti-gay hate and chip in today:
CHIP INThe World Congress of Families is having their annual conference next week. They’re planning their next attack on equality: how to take rights away from families they don’t think are ‘traditional.’ By speaking at the conference, Governor Herbert is giving them big political support.
But after the huge outcry over the anti-gay law in Indiana this year, governors across the U.S. are sensitive to public pressure on equality. If we create a huge uproar, it could be enough to get Governor Herbert to cancel his speech and deal a big blow to the World Congress of Families.
If we each chip in, we can run strategic social media ads to recruit thousands of potential allies in Utah ahead of the conference. When they see what their Governor is up to, they’ll be outraged. We’ll work with the media to get the word out even louder. Loud enough to get Governor Herbert to pull out of the conference.
Chip in just €10 so we can create a huge media storm in Utah with our campaign:
We’ve used social media ads to fight for equality before. Back in May, when marriage equality was on the ballots in Ireland, All Out members came together. Over 400 of us chipped in to place ads all over Facebook to push young people out to the polls in the critical final hours before the vote. It worked: our pro-equality ad reached over 330,000 people on Facebook, reinforcing the powerful effort on the ground to get people out to vote!
Now it’s time to bring our people power to Utah. Can you chip in to fight anti-gay hate?
CHIP INThanks for going All Out,
Andre, Leandro, Oscar, Rose, Sarah, Lucy, Kate, and the rest of the All Out team.
P.S. Imagine if thousands of people in Utah realised their Governor was welcoming an anti-gay hate group to their state. It would create a huge uproar, and could force Governor Gary Herbert to cancel his speech. It would deal a big blow to the World Congress of Families who are meeting in Utah next week. If we each chip in just a few dollars, we can flood Facebook with our campaign. Are you in, Luc?go.allout.org/en/a/utah-herbert
