Seems as though people have taken to placing their spent chewing gum on this wall. Judging from the amounts of gum festooned thereon, it must have been years in the making. Early 90's by some accounts. One therefore must harken back in time and consider the first gum musher, what was she thinking of ? Must have been a she, for no self respecting man chews gum . Think about it, every gum chewer I have ever know has been a woman, and invariably they snap their gum, in rapid slack jawed yapping. The lips moving in asynchronous rhythm with the jaws so that on the downdrop the lips slap, the jaws come up and clap. The faster the chewing the more cacophonous the beat.
But eventually a person , who I might allow , despite all the odds to the contrary , may be a man did on that wall stick a piece of gum. That gum was followed by more and more gum to make up a rubbery , yet colorful pallet of minty or juicy globs of immeasurable disgust. But it is Seattle and I guess to be expected.
So slovenly bizare is this wall that tourist from around the world come and deposit their own gum , take their selfy and put it on facebook where all their friends can see.
My own home state is always looking for another tourist attraction and given the success of
Seattle I thought I had stumbled onto , or rather stuck upon, a winner. Yesterday I had business in West New York, New Jersey----yes a real place---named because it is West of New York City across the Hudson, high on the Palisades of NJ. It bears little resemblance to the real New York except that Spanish is the language spoken in both places.

While there, I happened to have occasion to walk several blocks down Bergenline Avenue, named imaginatively after the Bergen Line Trolley that used to run up the Avenue to Bergen County. How these folks came up with these names is beyond me. Wow, Bergen Line Ave, near Palisdes Ave or Hudson Boulevard or even Boulevrd East in West New York.So as I walked Bergenline Avenue, I notices thousands on thousands of spots on the walk. What are these black dots all over the place. In a moment of departure from propriety I was bending down to touch one to see what it was (no not really) I saw it was gum. Taking in the scope of the mess I was just a little disgusted. But then I thought what we really needed was just a few million others throwing their gum on the sidewalk to create a real Seattle like tourist spot. What an opportunity is being wasted in West New York.
After finishing my business I drove a few blocks east to a nearby park to have a bite of lunch and think about how we could get this thing underway. But for some reason I was stuck, yup someone left their gum on the bench.
I just could not seem to come up with a spot where tourist would just like to come and spend a few minutes entranced by a wonderful view on a beautiful mid October day.
