For over 15 years, in his studio in Tampouy Sahab Kouanda revives scrap and recycled materials. Both sculptor, painter and designer, this committed artist engages in an artistic approach, the Recycling (re) creation, to bring forth strange and powerful works in direct contact with African heritage.
In a world overrun with images, symbols and icons, Sahab wished to work the art of mask support privileged ritual acts in Africa. It gives birth here to composite creatures, anthropomorphic, sometimes disturbing. These revealing unwrought a new identity, abstract, surreal, lend life to that other, elusive, while questioning the sacred and profane.
Through this exhibition of recent works, Sahab takes us a little further into his world, while remaining rooted in ancient traditions - West Art Africa
