Open doors for Syrian refugees: You can help Dear friends ,
A distraught Syrian woman carries a small child. She asks for help after authorities in Hungary block her family's courageous escape from their war-torn country.
The New York Times released that heartbreaking video last week. It shows the desperate plight of one family displaced by the violence and human rights abuses in Syria.
Amnesty is calling global attention to the stories of these refugees and we are advocating for governments - like the U.S., Canada, the E.U. countries and other nations - to show leadership and help resettle them.
Please make an urgent donation to Amnesty so we can advocate for families who have risked everything to regain their safety and reclaim their dignity.
September is our Annual Membership Drive. Donate now and your gift will be matched dollar for dollar by a group of generous donors.
So far, the global community has turned its back on children and families fleeing bloodshed in Syria. Only 80,000 specifically designated refugee resettlement spots have been offered for nearly 4 million people. The United States has taken in only 1,500 Syrians since the beginning of the conflict in 2011. That is not a humanitarian policy.
That is why we are increasing our efforts to advocate on behalf of them - to ensure that we open our hearts and communities to people who have escaped the atrocities of the Syrian government, the Islamic State armed group, and others.
We rely on people like you to support our actions to provide hope for the people of Syria and people everywhere who face violence and government oppression. Please donate to support this work. Your donation will be matched, but only for a limited time. Sincerely, Sunjeev Bery ADVOCACY DIRECTOR, MIDDLE EAST NORTH AFRICA AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL USA |
