Six Phoenician sarcophagi found in Lebanon

Six sarcophagi dating back to the Phoenician era were found on Wednesday in one of the excavation construction sites in the Lebanese city of Jbeil, NNA Correspondent reported.

Jbeil Station ISF members arrived to the scene and conducted an examination, with the financial judiciary placing its hand on the subject.

Representatives of the Directorate of Antiquities also arrived at said scene and drafted a report on discovered assets.

In the meantime, excavation works continued at said site under the supervision of representatives of the Antiquities Directorate.
