She is my kid

Being that I have never seen a daytime television show I must admit that I am not familiar with The View, except it seems to generate a fuil amount of controversy in the digital world and as such comes across my screen.  How is it possible that I have never seen a day time television show ?  I have been busy working.  I have not missed a day of work for almost 30 years.  I am also not overly involved in television viewership.  Is my life sadder for it, no

I get some of my news from news aggregators such as CNN,  CNBC, Drudge, Breitbart and even once a day from a newspaper.  So in passing through and spotting the news  I come across a blurb wherein Joy Behar a regular on the view took off after a beuaty contest contestant.  Who had the idea to come out in her Nurse's scrubs and talk about her work as her form of talent, rather than twirl flaming batons.

Much has been done to trivialize  beauty pageant contestants as being  somewhat vapid personalities.
Notwithstanding Gretchen Carlson and Vanessa Williams whose talents exceed their beauty.  Behar being something of a blowhard seemingly was attempting the same and in the course of her take off she belittled the nursing profession.

My kid is not a beauty contest contestant, she is pretty and nice and I lover her,  but she is smart, talented and tough beyond measure.  I know she is smart because she graduated high school at the top of her class, she went on to a national university which is normally ranked about being the 34 th  best college in the US and she decided to study nursing as she knew she wanted to do a job on graduation.  She moved to a city away from home and settled in and began working.

She works in a cardiac intensive care unit because she has the smarts and talents.  She works with the most ill patients.  Her lament is  "My patients actually die" because they wait on heart transplants or they have done so much damage to themselves that they will in fact die.  But they still try and keep them alive.  I remember one story about the nicest patient ever getting her heart transplant and at age 39 going on to live a normal life.  Kept alive to that point by nurses and doctors .

I have heard more than I need to know about bedside chest cracking, open chest heart massage performed in the patients bed, because there is no alternative.  And just recently about the reality of administration of CPR.  The reality is that the CPR patient is already gone and is being brought back to life with a stop gap method to keep blood moving until and if heart rhythm can be restored.  Blood and body fluids escape the body and go everywhere. It is not a sanitary procedure as depicted on TV.  It is exhausting physically demanding when properly done and has a lower chance of success than commonly thought.  It frequently is  a sad path to defeat for those trying so hard for a victory. Tears and dejection and an overwhelming feeling of failure sometimes affects those performing the act.  Frequently those persons are the nurses.  A steady diet of that can strain even the most stout hearted amongst us.

So with that, I suggest Ms. Behar of the big mouth might want to walk this one back.  She has never walked any other outrage back, as her open mockery of religious people or conservatives or any of her targeted groups. The view Facebook page is open for business and apparently she feels a little fire under her feet today.

But with the nurses she might think twice.  Because many of us know them, are them, are children of them , have been under their care .

So when you pick on the nurses your better be tough, because you forget just how tough they are.

So just how tough are you ?  Ms. Behar I think will soon be answering that question.

Me I am not so tough, I am proud, it is my kid who is the tough one.
