I asked on the Stop Deportations to Afghanistan FB group
(https://www.facebook.com/groups/SDtAfg/1033824689982739), and someone answered:
"According to the law, it is possible that they can be deported. But it
is very difficult. And as far as I am informed they have not done that
recently because of the uncertain situation in Afghanistan"
A british immigration lawyer also believed that Afghans were not
currently being deported from Germany.
