In the northwestern Turkish province of Canakkale, a statue of Aristotle, said to have founded a school of philosophy at Assos, was erected in 2009 by the Culture Ministry at the entrance to the ancient Assos site in the Ayvacik district.

The statues right arm was removed, while severe distortion was noted on the statues face. After the repairs, the statue will be erected back in its former place.
