 | We're pledging to do more for trans rights, but we need your help. Your donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous donor up to $75,000. | |
Dear Luc,
Just a few years ago, it was hard to imagine transgender celebrities like Caitlyn Jenner becoming a role model accepted by so many people.
Stories like hers bring in a lot of praise and pats on the back for how far we’ve come... but could also be hiding a bigger truth: life for many trans people is still incredibly tough.
Risks of housing and job discrimination, getting kicked out and being forced to live on the streets are just the beginning of it. Trans people are much more likely to be victims of violent and deadly attacks. It’s even worse for trans women of color, who make up two-thirds of all LGBT homicide victims. But these stories aren’t on the cover of magazines or the topic of primetime television.
The majority of All Out members agree – we need to do more. That’s why we’re pledging to make sure the rights of all trans people around the world – not just the celebrities – is a top priority in All Out’s campaigns.
And we’re not alone – one generous All Out member is so passionate about trans rights, they’ve pledged to match every donation from All Out members, dollar-for-dollar, up to $75,000 to cover the campaigning costs.
Help us get there and chip in today:
If we reach this goal, All Out will be able to ramp up global campaigns on trans rights in the months ahead. We’ve seen the kind of impact our members can make – a few years ago thousands of people came together to pressure lawmakers in Sweden to end the barbaric forced sterilization of trans people. And it worked.
With your help, we’ll be able to repeat those kinds of successes in other places around the world, whether it’s the right to use the bathroom you belong in, get the right driver’s license without being publicly humiliated, or simply feel safe walking down the streets of your hometown.
But this all comes at a cost. And we need your help to make it happen.
Can you chip in and help make a real investment in campaigning for the rights of trans people around the world?
Thanks for going All Out,
Andre, Sarah, Guillaume, Rose, and the rest of the All Out team.
