Dear friends,
Unfortunately, it's a story that's all too common: an innocent dog, with no history of aggression, has been taken from her owners and is at risk of being put to death. Why? Purely because of how she looks.
Local police in Kent, England have removed Roxie, a much loved pet dog, from her owners and imprisoned her. Roxie has done nothing wrong. The police have told Roxie's owner, Dean, that she is going to be put to sleep because they suspect she is a type of banned dog. We must show this police department that they don't need to kill Roxie!
On their website, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals say, "Banned types [of dogs] can be lawfully kept and exempt from euthanasia if they don't pose any risk to public safety and the owner is considered fit and proper. However, conditions must be met for the rest of the dog's life which can negatively impact their welfare. For example being muzzled and on-lead whenever in public."
Dean and his family are willing to follow these rules, if Roxie is found to be of a banned type. They are simply desperate to have her returned to them alive. The little girl who lives with Roxie really misses her pet dog too, and has been writing letters saying how she wishes her dog could come home.
Please sign Dean's petition urging Kent police to return Roxie to her family. If enough people sign, the local authorities will see that Roxie is harmless and has a loving family to go home to.
Thank you,
 Beth G.
