France, Alternative Libertaire AL #251 - Far right:
Anti-fascism is the class! (fr, it, pt) [machine translation]
(a-infos-en@ainfos.ca)
The antifascist movement, which is struggling to organize despite some encouraging
initiatives, could benefit from the FN crisis to energize. But the different currents that
struggle against fascism can not do without a true reflection on the strategic plan and
the unitary perspective to implement to popularize and expand this struggle. ---- Election
after election, the National Front garnered the results of its trivialization-demonization
of political and media complacency without actually hindrance. Moreover, it must not
neglect the echo met by ideological confusions which also allow its satellites to take
advantage of the situation, either once like Days of Wrath early 2014, more diffusely as
with the duo-related networks Dieudonné-Soral. The traditional parliamentary political
class, discredited among the working classes by his allegiance to the capitalist system,
its austerity policies and scandals, seems paralyzed by the electoral rise of the National
Front. There has also never questioned, just stirring the FN scarecrow to call "useful
vote", as the illusion of the "republican front" no longer works. The only answers given
are outbid on the ideological ground plowed by the far right and who benefits in the end
the FN: Immigration designated as ideal scapegoat with the figure of the "enemy from
within" and safe spiral.
complicity of the political class
That also means the disastrous hesitation-waltz of this political class on the temptation
to include the FN in "Sacred Union" following the attacks against Charlie Hebdo and Hyper
hide? This political class never ceases to disgust and despair of the popular classes,
with an obstinacy in stigmatizing "dangerous classes" of neighborhoods and class contempt.
As for the components of the Left Front, there has never been no real critical review of
the fiasco of the duel Mélenchon Le Pen in 2012 in Hénin-Beaumont and no true and lasting
commitment to the fight against fascism.
With some revolutionary forces located on the fringes but engaged in the anti-fascist
movement, fatalism and inertia characterize the political class setting at the foot of the
wall, which contributes to the feeling of despair policy vis-à-vis the rise of the extreme
right.
At libertarians, libertarian anti-fascist campaign (Claf) - where G is involved with the
CGA and the CNT - aims to fight both against fascism and build a "social alternative
emancipatory, egalitarian and libertarian." If the legitimacy of libertarians in the
antifascist struggle is undeniable, the Claf has missed the boat for national mobilization
of Lyon. We need to take stock of this campaign and continue to be proactive.
After the anti-fascist demonstration in Lyon on 29 November - which was singularly
hampered by clearly hostile attitude of the police and the prefecture having drawn pretext
of incidents caused by small autonomous groups to prevent the demonstration to take place
- the dynamic initiated by the National Coordination against the extreme right (Conex)
around the call "Uniting and act against the extreme right" of June 2014 was severely
hampered. The Conex attempts to continue the coordination of various anti-fascist groups,
including groups from former Ras l'Front who managed to maintain their local activity, to
involve trade unions and the question arises for political organizations. But for now the
fact is that the echo of the Conex is too limited. For their part, some confidants PS
painfully trying a competing initiative with the coordination of some local groups created
in particular to regain lost some municipalities in favor of the far right. It should be
emphasized the ideological retreat because these groups even reject the term
"anti-fascism". We have therefore clearly nothing to do with this "republican" initiative
which not only stands on a purely moralistic field but also in an opportunistic politician
perspective.
So, it is the union level, whether with the Inter-CGT campaign FSU and Solidaires-Visa,
the ground work is beginning to bear fruit. We must continue this work unit to
successfully anchor and amplify in the nationwide struggle unions and locally (see article
below).
Ideological work
Several anti-fascist initiatives are planned in the near future and participate in the
construction of the anti-fascist movement and ideological work patient.
The mobilizations on the occasion of the commemorations in Marseille for the death of
Ibrahim Ali killed by the FN billposters in 1995 and Brahim Bouarram murdered on the
sidelines of the demonstration FN 1 May 1995 are of particular symbolic importance against
the effects of short memory and remind the murderous racist tendencies of the extreme
right. In the same vein, several events are planned on June 6 in Paris and in many cities
during the 2 years of the death of Clement Meric and in memory of all victims of racism
and fascist aggression. But the idea is also to highlight "our will to live together and
our demand for equal rights and social justice."
Moreover, on 7 June will take place in Marseille in Suds Docks day "Uni-es against the
extreme right, for social progress and equality of rights." The program features several
workshops to discuss the establishment of an associative village, a meeting, artistic
activities and a concert to attract largely beyond the activist public. The idea soon
offer book fairs is part of the antifascist memory work and topical will to understand and
combat the revival of the fascist phenomenon.
Finally, given the fragmentation of struggles, there need to connect and relate to other
struggles anti-fascism: racism, antipatriarcat, against homophobia, moral and security
excesses... The initiative around March 21 demonstrations "against all forms of racism and
fascism" is in our opinion an important attempt in this direction.
There is need for revolutionary activists to participate in the construction of a mass and
class anti-fascism, provided the patient articulate with our struggle to build a social
alternative.
