Dear friends,
"When the patient has a gay thought, we electrocute them or inject them with drugs that make them sick."
Those aren't words from a horror movie. They're from a doctor, trying to "shock the gay" out of people.
Xiao Zhen was one of those people. And when he took a gay "cure" clinic to court last year, you and over 116,000 All Out members joined in, calling for an end to these horrible treatments in China. Thanks for taking action then, but we need you again, Luc.
Because it's still happening today, in places all around the world.
That's why All Out is launching an online tool called the Gay "Cure" Watch, where anyone can report these types of dangerous practices happening in their own community. This will give our staff a jumpstart on campaigns that will help even more people just like Xiao Zhen.
This new tool is so important, an All Out member has pledged tomatch every single donation, dollar-for-dollar, up to $75,000, until July 31st.
Luc, chip in to help get the Gay "Cure" Watch up and running today:
Thanks to the outcry from people like you, there's been a few victories in the past year. Just last month, an anti-gay group in the United States was sued and forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars in damages to victims of its gay "cure" treatment. And a few weeks ago, a law was reintroduced that would make "conversion therapy" illegal across the entire United States.
But it's simply not enough to fight this global phenomenon. Earlier this week, it was reported that one in ten health workers in the United Kingdom have witnessed a professional colleague promoting gay "cures." And a few months ago, doctors in India were giving electric shocks and drugs in attempts to "cure" their gay patients.
Even when horrifying physical abuses aren't taking place, the emotional and psychological trauma from "conversion therapy" is downright tragic. Health experts agree that these types of horrendous treatments lead many of their victims to depression or suicide.
Here's how we fight back: With enough support, we'll have the Gay "Cure" Watch on our website by September. By the end of the year, we'll be working with members who report these places to launch global campaigns, urging lawmakers to stop these outrageous practices.
Help us fight back, bigger than ever before. Chip in to fund the Gay "Cure" Watch today, and your donation will be matched by an All Out member:
If you believe that no one should be told that their love is a disease, I'm hoping you'll stand with us again today.
Thanks for going All Out,
Andre, Sarah, Guillaume, Rose, and the rest of the All Out Team
