the Authorities are unable to handel the situation and the solidarity groups are continoulsy trying to fill the needs of the people in the streets.
While the minister on her visit few weeks ago ordered the authorities not to leave new ariving people in the coastguard area in harbour in the sun , but bring them immediatly to the detention near Moria to get registered, the authorities dont follow this orders and just let the people where they arive.
People ariving in the north Lesvos in MOLIVOS are even told by the authtorities to walk to Mitilini. This takes days in the sun and with small babys old people, kids inpossible
Taxis and buses are not allowed by the Police to transport them. Individuals get organised and try to help with cars.
The NGO Siniparxis and the GREEN party lesvos wrote open letters to the authorities saying the trasport fo the refugees should not get crimilalised, individuals, taxis and buses should be able to suport the transport of the people to Mitilini. People of the solidarity group in Molivos gathered whith privat cars and transported refugees to Mitilini.

The lokal Lesvos Syriza group made an own open letter on the situation.
The Major of Lesvos send an open letter to the Minister saying the situation is out of control and he cannot do anything anymore and although the community and the lokals want to help, they cant if they dont get suport from outside.

The solidarity groups active: village of all together, Syriza, Green party, University aegean antirasist Paratiritio ,antirassist groups, ngo Agalia, ngo Iliaktida, solidarity group Molivos, made a publik meeting and decided to get organised in groups to suport the new comers on the streets.

The TELEGRAPH wrote an artikel about the feries coming to Mitilini from turkey that most of the people travelling where Syrian refugees, happy to enter this way europe.
the information came as the newspaper says from an "Anonymous greek student" who "happend" to travel that day. In Mitlini the person is known as a right wing racist , his name has been published .
in MOLIVOS the parents forbid their kids to go to school because refugees had sat in the shadow waiting in a busstop near the school. instead of bringing water and food they kept their kids home!!!!
All refugees registered have to continue to Athens with the boat. The TRAVEL AGENCYS and the SHIPPING companies are the ones to profit from the large amount of people ariving and having to go to Pireus. Instead of treating them well and although they pay normal tickets, the treatment on the boats is very bad, they are not allowed to sit in the sitting rooms, but have to go to the outside area for the 12 hour travel.
Now the the summer season strats for tourism we ask everyone to travel with open eyes and confront the Shiping companies with their bad behaviour towards refugees.
Lesvos is not the only island but one of the largest. Also on other islands of the Agais is the similar situation :
