fda-ifa: No summit at mountain tops and castles for
everybody! -- - An anarchist call for active holidays in the alps (de)
On the 7th and 8th of June 2015, the G7 Summit will take place in Elmau castle in Bavaria.
The "Group of 7" consists of the world's most industrialized nations: the United States of
America, France, Italy, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, and Germany. According to the German
federal government, the main focus of this year shall be policies on foreign, safety and
development issues. We are about to derange this meeting with a massive protest.
The G7 acts as world representatives, but it has no democratic legitimacy. Counter
protests are not welcome, and protests are violently repressed. While the G7 talks about
human rights and at the same time it causes the death of thousands of refugees by its
border regime. It talks about development aid and at the same time it produces global
injustice and poverty through neo-colonialist exploitation. It spends hundreds of billions
on armament in order to use it to ensure "peace", furthermore, it wants to protect the
environment, which it is itself destroying every day.
In short: the G7 shows all too clearly that States are first and foremost institutions of
oppression and domination.
What we want
There is a long list of what we reject about the G7. We could add many more aspects at
this point. We could as well speak about the plethora of visions, ideas and goals we have.
This is why we focused instead on some central points:
As anarchists we are united in our goal of creating a respectful, non-violent and
anti-authoritarian society based on solidarity, that is: an emancipatory society. It is
not possible within the current system to put such an idea into practice, because in
capitalism the priority is not on the needs of all the people, but on maximizing the
profit in all aspects of live.
To come closer to a free society we need to develop a critical view on all relationships
of authority and all mechanisms of oppression in our everyday live, and, in the end,
overcome them all. In doing so, we are not satisfied with demanding less work,
unconstrained rights of residence, cheap living space or free education, but we demand
material, cultural and social wealth for everybody.
The life we wish for, in solidarity and self-determination, has to be based on respect and
equality. It is certainly still a long way to that point, but we carry our hopes and
visions within us.
To get closer to our aims we start creating alternative structures step by step right now.
We confront and denounce grievances in many ways and begin learning how make collective
decisions avoiding elbow society and majority vote by practicing good consent.
To overcome existing hierarchies and oppressive structures we need firstly to recognize
them and our own role within them. We want to fight hierarchies, which divide people into
those with powerful and those without, into groups with a higher and groups with a lower
status.
That's why we need to get active.
At the actions around the G7 Summit, we will protest publicly, because this is not the end
of the story.
Anarchist / anti-authoritarian block
A major demonstration will take place in Garmisch-Patenkirchen on 6th of June. We want to
be visible with our anarchist ideas and we want to be many. Even though we will of course
show our solidarity to all those who want with us to block or prevent the Summit, our
focus is on questioning authority and the representative system in general. We won't
formulate any demands to the seven superpowers - we just want them to disappear.
We call all anarchists out to participate at the anti-authoritarian block. We hope for a
strong and resolute block that carries out the call for freedom and solidarity to the
world. We wish for a block, that communicates through words and deeds anarchist and
emancipatory ideas in a creative and diverse way. At the same time, our block shall also
be a protected space where less experienced or less action-oriented activists are not left
alone. It shall be a protected space against likely acts of violence by the State, where
we can look after each other. We won't engage in petty games with the cops. Please get
prepared accordingly and form affinity groups!
Protest camp
Besides the active part, we plan different info tables, talks and workshops on the
campsite. Of course you are invited to help us, to participate or to just show up.
Come and join the actions against the G7!
