Ferries not Frontex! - Let's realize the idea of a disobedient
humanitarian ferry! - network meeting in Frankfurt/M., June 14th

"Ferries not Frontex" is an idea that has been circulating within the
movement for a while now. If this has always been a mad project, maybe
now is the time for madness. The predictable deaths of migrants demand
it. All solutions – even the most ambitious such as Mare Nostrum – have
demonstrated their failure and it seems that there is a growing
consciousness that this situation must stop, which would guarantee
popular support.

We want to push this idea and the process to it, because - as a first
aspect - a disobedient ferry would fulfill a humanitarian mission:
getting refugees into Europe in a comfortable way without having to risk
the dangers, a boatride through the mediterranean sea mostly means for
refugees.

Second, because activists and hopefully also persons of interest and
media would travel on the ferry as well, it will constitute an act of
civil disobedience: collectively and publically violating unjust laws of
exclusion.
It might operate either as an one time intervention that shows what
European governments are denying to do, or it might operate as some kind
of longterm humanitarian intervention.

As such, we think that the time has come at least to consider seriously
such an initiative. We really want to realize the idea of a ferry.
That's why we want to invite you to a day of working, trying to make it
come true in Frankfurt/M. on June 14th. The exact times and the place
will be announced soon.

Our idea is to use this day to discuss some general questions regarding
the realization of the ferry. Then we would already like to form working
groups that will continue working on different parts of the project in
the next weeks.
So, in case you are planning to participate in the name of your group or
as individuals, please consider talking about the project beforehand, in
order to have an idea of your thoughts, your questions, your needs and
the level of time and energy you are able to spare for the project.
We will organize a structure for the meeting and facilitation.
Nevertheless, you are very welcome to send your proposals or ideas for
the structure of the day to noborderffm ät riseup.net already in advance.

To plan the meeting, it would be good to know, how many persons we are
expecting. Therefore we would very much appreciate if you could send us
an email, saying if and with how many people you are coming. For people
coming from further away, we will organize sleeping places. Please let
us know as soon as possible, if you are in need of a sleeping place. The
meeting will be held in english. If there is the need for translation,
we can also try to organize it. Please inform us about the needed languages.
If you need child care or have any other special needs, we will also try
to offer assistance. Please let us know in advance though.

For your consideration, we want to let you know, that there is a big
demonstration in Frankfurt/M. on June 13th, demanding a selforganised
center from the city, where protection and orientation can be offered to
