Beautiful Shower Gel

Lush claim that 'you've got to get up every morning with a smile on your face'. After three years of 5:30am starts, this is near-on impossible. While I'm not exactly the grim reaper when I first a-wake, I wouldn't say that I was at my happiest in the mornings either. Despite loving Lush as much as I do, I really don't see a shower gel changing the distain I feel towards the person who invented the alarm clock.

Beautiful Shower Gel is the very epitome of its name - a product that looks and smells like Lush have managed to bottle the sun in liquid form. Presented in a stunning shade of sunflower-yellow, this new and exclusive gel is littered with golden glitter - making this beauty shimmer and glisten whenever the light hits the bottle.

While the ingredients list doesn't give many clues as to the aroma of this shower gel, Beautiful shares its scent with 1000 Kisses Deep - a perfume inspired by the Mark Constantine's everlasting love for his wife. The fragrance serves as a wonderful reminder of the luxury that comes with enjoying the summer sun.

Containing both peach juice and dried apricots, this product smells good enough to drink - a fresh, fruity citrus aroma that encapsulates the zest of freshly peeled and squeezed oranges. Much like the perfume, it's almost as if someone has bottled the very fragrance you get when peeling back a fresh orange - a combination of the sweetness of the fruit and the bitter, slight tart note of the pith.
It's a wonderfully light and refreshing natural scent that'll perk you up - one that won't completely alter your perception of those early mornings but may help to make the experience a little more pleasant overall.

Out of the bottle, Beautiful is quite a thick shower gel - pertaining a similar consistency to the likes of Prince Charming and The Comforter. What is great about it, is that in the shower a small amount really goes a long way, foaming up really easily and creating a lather that is both abundant and highly moisturising. It's one of those shower gels that leaves your skin feeling noticeably silky soft instantaneously.

Unfortunately, unlike the shower creams that have also come from Oxford Street, this one doesn't seem to have any longevity in its scent. I found that within a few minutes of lathering the shower gel over my body, I could no longer detect the scent in the air or indeed on my skin. This was rather disappointing as I was hoping to top up the smell with my bottle of perfume and enjoy the fresh, uplifting aroma all day. Having said this, I was not surprised that the scent didn't stick around for long as I experienced the same problem with both the liquid and solid perfumes as well.

Despite this, I loved how vibrant and juicy the fragrance of this shower gel was and would definitely buy it again. While I know it won't stay with me for the duration of the day, I can at least guarantee that my skin will feel well-nourished and radiant, and definitely as Beautiful as the shower promises it will.
