Pet of The Week
Pet of The Week
So sorry fur last weeks blip in transmission, only mew may remember - see last weeks Pet Parade post - that the P.A. was so selfishly in much warmer climes, floating around a huge swimming pool on a li-lo drinking neon coloured cocktails with little umbrella's in them, and the excuse of: "There was no WiFi in the pool!" Purrlease!!!!! nuff said!!!!!
Anyhoo it's delights us immensely to be back this week with a supurr fantabulous
featuring the mega incredible
from the totally amazing blog
Many con'cat'ulations Moosey!
>^.^<
Me and 'The Mooster' I hope mew don't mind me calling mew that Moosey, but mew are
one seriously pawesome kitty - I salutes mew most reverently my furriend - Anyways I'm digressing, we had such a blast during the interview, read on and I'll stop rambling...
Welcome my supurr furriend
Furstly can you tell us a little about yourself? i.e: how mew came to your current home, were mew a rescue or adopted as a kitten or puppy, how old mew are, what do mew like best about your living arrangements, etc…
I first met Mom and Dad at PAWS, where they have both been volunteering for about elebenty billion years. I wound up there after I was rescued with a bunch of other cats from a kill shelter, where we found ourselves after being part of a hoarding situation. All of us cats from that hoarding situation had ringworm, so we had to be treated daily for like, A MONTH, until we were ringworm-free. It was pretty gross, but Mom and Dad say I was “a trooper,” and that my sweet nature shone brightly through it all. They also say they fell in love with my playful, easygoing personality. I’m about 13 years old. I’ve been in my forever home for about 6 ½ years now. Apparently, I’m something called “spoiled,” but “in a good way.” MOL.
Do mew have any fur-siblings and if so, can mew tell us about them?
When I first came to live here, I joined Mom, Dad and my (now Angel) brofur Sammy. Sammy was super snuggly, sweet, and heroic, and we all still miss him lots. After he went to the Bridge, it was about four months before Mom and Dad could even think about adopting any new cats. But even while they weren’t ready to adopt, they kept on volunteering at the shelter, which was sort of helpful, even as we all grieved the loss of Sammy.
So almost four months passed, and Mom and Dad’s hearts kind of came to the same place of being ready to open up their hearts and home again. And with that, I now have two beautiful housepanther sisfurs, Gracie and Zoe. They are also PAWS alums. They had been waiting there for quite a while. Gracie and Zoe are awesome, but they had been passed over time and again because of their ages (they are about the same age as me), their color (did you know black cats have a much harder time being adopted from shelters?), and the fact that they needed to be adopted together (they are littermates, and very bonded). Mom and Dad fell in love with them, just like they did with me, and we adopted them. And even though we all don’t really get along, there’s still a lot of love in our house.
What is your most favourite thing?
My most favorite thing is laying on the sofa, right between Mom and Dad. I like to stretch out, so that I am touching both of them at the same time. Drinking water from the sink and sleeping with Mom and Dad are pretty great, too.
What is your most least favourite thing?
Going to the vet. I am very good about it, and all the vets and staff love me, but I am always SO happy when it is time to go back home.
Do mew have any nicknames?
Well, “Moosey” is actually a nickname, because my real name is “Moose,” on account that I am a tall and broad-chested cat. My other nicknames are “Cootie (I do not know why, since I do NOT have bugs), and “The Bebbeh.” Gracie’s nicknames are “Baby Charmin,” “Snuggly,” and “Fuzzy Wuzzy.” Zoe’s are “Toe-Tee,” “The Child,” and “Toots.” It’s a real mystery how the humans come up with these nicknames, isn’t it?
1.
Are you an indoor kitty or an exploratory outdoor enthusiast/adventurer?
We are all strictly indoor kitties.
Do mew have a special story to share?
Mom and Dad are convinced that I “channel” Graphite, one of the cats who came before. He was Dad’s first cat of his very own, and they had a very special bond. Even though I look nothing at all like Angel Graphite (he was a little grey Russian Blue mix, while I am big and white with tabby markings), my behavior and level of empathy are at times nearly identical to him. Mom and Dad had no idea of this when they adopted me; they believe that Angel Graphite brought us all together.
What’s your favourite treat or most yummy nom?
Truth be told, my absolute most favorite treat in the world is … lettuce. I will literally come running when I hear the bag of salad mix being opened! Gracie and Zoe are more traditional in their tastes. They come running for stuff like tuna. (And don’t get me wrong, if there’s tuna involved, I’m jumping in the queue, too!)
Tell us about a typical day in your life?
After we wake up Mom and Dad, we all like sleeping, chasing sunpuddles, and watching Bird and Squirrel TV. When Mom and Dad go out (to work, volunteer, and whatever else they do), we all practice our cutest and most excited-type greetings for when they get back home.
What’s the wurst thing mew’ve effur done?
Probably sneezing in the humans’ faces. I’ve done it to both Mom and Dad before. They forgave me, because it was an accident. But they both said it was gross.
Where’s your favourite snooze spot?
The ottoman if I’m downstairs, and on Mom and Dad’s bed if I’m upstairs. Gracie and Zoe love that ottoman, too. It’s the best -- very cushiony.
Do mew have a speshul toy, if so can mew tell us about it?
We all like the kitty kick stick very much. Gracie’s most favorite toys are the collar stays from Dad’s dress shirts. She looks forward to playing with them every day when Dad gets home from work. She and Zoe also love the bug on a string toy. I don’t play as much as I used to, but I still enjoy a good go with the fleecy wand toy. That hand under the comforter thing always gets me going, too.
Do mew have any spehul skillz?
I am really good at opening doors, if they are not latched. I know whether to push or pull, and I will keep at it until the job is done. Zoe’s speshul skillz are looking cute (she has the “bunny paws” pose perfected) and running FAST! Gracie is good at relaxing, and she is smart!
What’s your favourite time of year and why?
My favorite is Christmas time, because that’s when my tree appears in the living room. My Angel brofur Sammy taught me how awesome the tree is … oh, how I love laying under that thing. All of us really enjoy spring and summer, too, because of the awesome sun puddles that accompany those seasons.
If mew could do absolutely anything, what would it be?
I would want to be happy, and in good health, and live with Mom and Dad and my sisfurs for forever. Oh, and I would also make sure that every animal had a happy, loving home of their own, like mine.
Is there anything else mew’d like to share, that we haven’t asked?
I just want to thank you for interviewing me as Cat of the Week. I’m so honored! And most of all, thank you for being our friends, because we all love and appreciate you.
