It’s Monday! What Are You Reading, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.
I had a good reading month in February. I read a total of 19 books. Twelve were review books and 7 were from my TBR mountain.
Last week is kind of a blur in my memory. The Voice started and I spent two evenings watching the judges pick new teams for this season. There are lots of people with really amazing voices and stories out there. This week will be another two evenings of judges picking their teams.
Things have come up at work which leave me contemplating retirement. I am considering retiring and then coming back to work on a part-time basis. I met with the superintendent this week to talk about it. I have a meeting in a couple of weeks with a retirement counselor to see if that is a wise option for me. I like what I do but wouldn't mind doing it for fewer hours a week. I'll be eager to see how the numbers work out.
The coming week looks like a normal one. My calendar is free of extra meetings. I really should make an appointment to do my taxes which means I need to find all the various papers I need. I have been procrastinating.
Read Last Week
The Cemetery Boys by Heather Brewer was an interesting YA novel with a touch of the paranormal and a touch of horror. My review will be posted on March 28.
Teacher Beware by Charlotte Raine was a romantic suspense title from my TBR mountain. It was okay but felt a little rushed to me. My review will be posted on March 28.
Thrown by Colette Auclair was a romance from my TBR mountain. I enjoyed the characters and the setting of this one very much. My review will be posted on April 2.
Lies I Told by Michelle Zink was from my YA review stack. This was a contemporary story told by a girl who has been raised in a family of grifters. My review will be posted on April 2.
The Queen of Bright and Shiny Things by Ann Aguirre was my favorite YA book of the year so far. I loved the characters and the romance. I've already ordered a copy for my high school media center. My review will be posted on April 4.
I read Echoes by Laura K. Curtis. This review book was a romantic suspense title that had a vintage feel for me. I liked the characters and will be looking for more in this series. My review will be posted on March 12 for this March 17 release.
Currently
Next on my YA review stack is Skandal by Lindsay Smith. I read Sekret last year and liked the combination of paranormal and historical fiction.
Next Week
For my adult blog, I have decided to read two books that I bought in 2015. After reading The Midnight Mayor by Kate Griffin, I will have read 12 of the 13 adult books I bought in January.
I bought The Trouble with Magic by Patricia Rice on February 1. I have 9 other February books to read. Two of them are novellas which shouldn't take too long.
I really want to try to keep up by reading what I buy this year. It has made me more hesitant to buy which can't be a bad thing when I already have more than 1000 books on TBR mountain.
My YA books are from my review stack. These books will be released in April.
- Dream a Little Dream by Kerstin Gier which I got from Macmillan
- The Pretty App by Katie Sise which I got from Edelweiss
- The Memory Key by Liana Liu
- How to Win at High School by Owen Matthews
- Vampires Never Cry Wolf by Sarah Humphreys
- The Grendel Affair by Lisa Shearin
What was your week like? Leave me a link and I'll come visit.
