As a child, there was nothing I hated more than the smell of hot milk. My mum would often microwave mugs of the stuff for my siblings and I in the winter evenings before we went to bed, and I remember even now how effected I was by the potent creamy aroma that would float around the living room while we drank our beverages. With this in mind, I was actually a little worried about trying out this bubble bar.
Despite what the name suggests, and indeed the description that Lush featured alongside this product, I was thankful to discover very quickly that Hot Milk Bubble Bar does not actually smell of hot milk. Phew! However, that's not to say that the aroma I did pick up from this bath product, was particularly any better either.
Containing coconut milk, orange oil, patchouli oil and gardenia, I was hoping for an almost tropical-smelling bubble bar - one with elements of the coconut but mostly dominated by the sweet, natural zestiness of the orange. What I discovered, was a product that reminded me a little of cheap soap and cleaning products. Yuck!
This product doesn't help itself much with it's design either - an orange blob that looks a little like a ball of plasticine. It's easy enough to crumble, I'll give it that, and in the bath it does produce a wonderful array of bubbles, but it turns the water a murky-looking peachy-orange shade and isn't very comforting at all.
Luckily, the overall scent wasn't as potent as you'd normally expect with other bubble bars so I was still able to enjoy my bath. You could also definitely detect more of the orange oil once submerged under the water so I was able to appreciate the fragrance a little more. Furthermore, while I was relaxing in the water, I did notice that the bubble bar was very good at moisturising the skin and water was very velvety soft so I could feel how soft and smooth my skin was going to be afterwards. My body did feel wonderfully silky once I had left the tub and I was impressed with the amount of silky-soft bubbles a single bar was able to yield.
