Greece, About 50 anarchists occupied Siriza, headquarters - Workers Solidarity Movement (Ireland)

They have occupied the headquarters of the ruling party in Greece to support the hunger
strike in the Greek prisons against conditions in the country's Type C maximum-security
jails. ---- In June 2014 over 3000 prisoners went on hunger strike demanding ---- 1) No
Type C prisons- these new high security prisons have been dubbed the 'Greek Guantanamo'
---- 2) Furloughs and parole to be a right of all prisoners ---- 3) Retrial of those
imprisoned with life sentences for drug offences due to a change in the law ---- 4) Right
to conjugal visits ---- 5) Release of migrants facing deportation ---- Prisoners held in
Type C conditions are essentially in isolation as their contact with the outside world
will be restricted. The legislation allows people to be held in these conditions for 10
years with no right to furloughs or parole.

The anarchists hung banners from the building's balconies calling for the abolition of the
controversial C-type jails where conditions are especially cruel for instance access to
families is denied.

They threw leaflets out the windows reading:
Today, Sunday, March 8, we occupy
We demand the immediate satisfaction of the demands of the prisoners hunger strike.
The withdrawal of special anti-terrorist laws, particularly the laws on "criminal
organizations "(Laws 187 and 187A).
The withdrawal of special repressive laws (anti-mask law)
the withdrawal of C-type prisons
The withdrawal of the use of DNA processing as proof
We also support the demand for the immediate release of S. (note: Savvas Xiros whose
