Frankfurt spoil the party capital (fr, it, pt) [machine translation]
On the occasion of the inauguration of the new headquarters of the ECB in Frankfurt on
March 18, the German anti-capitalist and throughout Europe are organizing to play
spoilsport. ---- Wednesday, March 18, 2015, the heads of state of the European Union and
all Europe account bigwigs banking and finance will meet in Frankfurt to inaugurate the
new headquarters of the European Central Bank (ECB) in a festive atmosphere. ---- The
rally will be that of an oligarchy that wishes to celebrate and to stage its power. This
is symbolized by a structure surmounted by a glass tower and high concrete 185 meters.
---- Monumental architecture speaks for itself: she wants daunting in the image of this
component of the [troika 1 ]. The cost of this temple of finance is to match, since the
note amounted to date to 1.3 billion euros. This mess is all the more shocking that the
ECB is one of the main levers of austerity policies that strikes hundreds of millions of
workers and workers in Europe. A large unnecessary project, one more.
That is why the Blockupy coalition intends to play spoilsport, disrupt and spoil as
possible, the self-celebration of the capital stock of power locks, events and any other
kind of actions.
This March 18 will therefore be an opportunity to indict not just an institution, but more
generally the capitalist system and show that the states are only the zealous instruments
for this system of oppression. But what Blockupy?
Blockupy is a coalition or edge that can be described without misnomer, as the
anti-capitalist in his speech that in its modes of action. It was created in 2011 and
brings together forces as diverse Attac, federation services (Verdi) of the trade union
confederation DGB Anti-Fascist Action, die Linke (which is the equivalent of the Left
Front in Germany) Die Linke interventionnistische (daughter organization of the autonomous
movement that also brings together libertarians, self-management, antifascist, feminist
and radical environmentalists) Ums Ganz (organization claiming to communism and also made
partly of autonomy), the Revolutionn?re sozialistische Bund (German section of the Fourth
International).
Blockupy maintains relationships with organizations of fifteen European countries
including Syriza (Greece), the Belgian unions, Attac, Partners, Alternative libertarian
and the NPA in France.
Building a European anti-capitalist network
Blockupy has already organized major demonstrations against the ECB in Frankfurt in 2012
and 2013, each time with around 20,000 participants and a particularly harsh repression by
the police. There is also the Altersummit network took over the European Social Forums and
is also working to mobilize against transatlantic free trade treaty during secret
negotiations between Europe, the US and Canada. The challenge for the mobilization of 18
March 2015 is not symbolic. Beyond the symbol referred, it is to assert a class solidarity
across borders and build a network against the austerity policies imposed by state and
desired by the principal.
The meetings held in Frankfurt from 20 to 23 November (see Alternative libertarian No. 245
in December) helped launch the mobilization for March 18 and strengthen links with
organizations of fifteen countries 'European Union.
Blockupy reflects both a radicalization of will on anti-capitalist foundations and
widening towards social movements. Contrast that with the orientation of collective
alternative to austerity that hears its action primarily in a reconstruction project of
institutional left to the left of the PS. That said Blockupy orientation and willingness
to build a bottom by movement of struggle are not the result of a happy accident. They can
be explained by the desire of anti-capitalist forces to fully participate in this network
and give it a blast. A very different attitude to what is happening in France, where
except for AL and the NPA, other anti-capitalist forces have tried to keep as much as
possible away from anti-austerity protests last year.
Finally the deadline of March 18 is prepared in a context marked by the proliferation of
general strike days in Greece (November 27), Italy (December 12), Belgium (December 15)
where unions opt for a more aggressive attitude in the face of authorities increasingly
reactionary (eg EU summit blocking actions on December 19). These are all reasons to
Blockupy forehead and move in number in Frankfurt on 18 March.
