Poll: More Americans Think CIA Program Was Justified Than Not -- Wall Street Journal

Pew Research Survey Finds 51% Think CIA Practices Were Warranted

WASHINGTON—Americans who believe the Central Intelligence Agency’s post-Sept. 11 interrogation and detention program was justified significantly outnumber those who don’t think it was warranted, according to a poll released Monday.

A survey conducted by Pew Research Center found 51% of Americans think the CIA practices were warranted, compared with 29% who said the techniques were not, and 20% who didn’t express an opinion. A majority of those polled, 56%, believed the interrogation methods provided intelligence that helped prevent terrorist attacks.
