On Saturday 22 November the exhibition was held libertarian editions in Lyon. On this
occasion Alexis Escudero was invited to present his book, The artificial reproduction of
the human . We consider this invitation as a platform given to reactionary remarks that
have nothing to do with ethics and libertarian ideology as we understand it. ---- Who is
Alexis Escudero? ---- We will not return in detail in this article on the work of
Escudero, other texts have been written on the subject[1] . Note however that this is a
book that seeks to fight especially against the PMA (Medically Assisted Procreation). If
Escudero is against the PMA for everyone, it specifically disclaims its openness to
lesbians couples, which would mark the transition to a PMA he calls "convenience" (similar
term used by anti-abortion reactionaries who speak for " IVG comfort "to limit access to
abortion).
The author completely negates the inequality of rights is access to LDCs for straight
couples but not for lesbians couples. He argues that the PMA is allowed for infertile
couples but that this would be open to couples of fertile lesbians. Now it is a
lesbophobic argument, since it is not because a couple is "sterile" as two of the couple are.
Alexis Escudero also rejects the block LDCs, refusing to consider it involves techniques
to different consequences. The only technique he concedes is the "yogurt pot" where the
sperm donor is not anonymous and can therefore claim rights over the child at any time,
which is to put the future of a family formed by a couple of lesbians at the whim of one
man. Under the pretext of criticizing the "organic power," it is mainly to put the
lesbians under the power of men.
In an essentialist prose to conspiracy accents, the author also takes feminist (which he
calls "feminist cyborgs"), together the " lobby transhumanist "(sic), which would defend
the" biological standardization of individuals " and whom he blames a hatred of nature.
This book was, unsurprisingly, heavily relayed by the AKI for All, anti-abortions sites,
or of conspiracy ... Strangely, if the publisher has been able to produce in the night a
"release" for mock intervention feminists Editions Fair Libertarians, we still await their
frank denunciation of fascist sites that sometimes fully reflect the text by the praise.
Even when it comes to writing a text[2] Speaking of AKI for All, as they marched in Paris
and Bordeaux, Escudero is not able to condemn their homophobia or transphobia them to them
, merely blame them for having "never protested against the commodification of life." No
surprise, then, that he is not able to reflect on his comments to himself, content instead
to quote a lesbian deposit to show that it is not lesbophobic, adaptation of the old
defense "I am not racist, I have a black friend."
Escudero is also close to the Grenoble group Parts and Labor Work (PMO): it is on their
site that was pre-published his book and the leaflet mentioned earlier is co-signed with
them. However, not only the last text PMO (entitled " This is not a woman (about twisted
"queer") ") is a homophobic concentrate, lesbophobia and transphobia[3] but these n 'are
not at their first attempt: Transphobia, resumed complotistes theories about an alleged
"gay lobby" amalgam between LGBT claims and pedophilia, but also contempt for the
anti-fascist struggle and republican patriotism[4] .
What happened to the show libertarian editions
A number of individuals and collectives have heckled the show organizers libertarian
editions and for the annulment of the invitation. When they refused, a number of feminist
persons and / or anarchists have decided to prevent the conference from taking place,
which was a success: it was not possible to express Alexis Escudero date -there.
This action came from anarchist activists, organized or unorganized groups, and some
directly affected by what lesbophobic, transphobic and anti-feminists. While many
activists of the Anarchists Coordination Groups (CGA) participated and claim this action,
it is therefore not a question, contrary to what one could read of a share of the CGA.
Specifically, participants in this action have come together to prevent the debate to be
held. They and they blocked access to the room and read a leaflet compiling various quotes
from the book, which was clear foul ideology of its author. Them and they then shouted
slogans. Seeing that the conference would not be held, most of the few people who came to
attend emptied the scene, while qu'Escudero and his friends got back into the room where
the offerers offered their documentation, hoping to hold a debate up there.
There, the participants in the action once again shouted slogans and stationed themselves
at the table where he sat. Over the surprise of the public and offerers, they and they
were confronted with indifference or even hostility of the majority of those present: they
and they were insulted by people who for the most part, admitted that he not read the book
but felt their violent attitude. Worst, and they could hear about transphobic, and
advocates Escudero put on the same plane homosexuality and bestiality.
Escudero front, three of the organizers and coincidentally cis men[5] , white, straight,
the paternalistic attitude, formed a defensive cordon face to participating in the action,
protecting the speaker, while the latter qu'Escudero demanded, not libertarian and
produces draconian and reactionary texts, leaving the room where he had no place.
Escudero refusing to leave the show, the organizers decided to let the situation
deteriorate. Tables were pushed to allow the public passage around participating in the
action and not hinder sales. The public continued to walk quietly in the living room ...
We deplore the lack of support of the majority of the organizations, which all should feel
concerned by the subject.
About Violence
We are shocked to note that the main criticism was addressed to the participants in this
action concerns the alleged "abuse" of their action. This criticism is almost never made
in anarchist circles where violent action is traditionally used when deemed necessary and
politically legitimate. We note that in the eyes of those who denounce this action, there
are two weights, two measures: one side anti-capitalist struggles, anti-racism, social
revolution and libertarian, where violence is legitimate, and the Another anti-patriarchal
claims that cater to the whole of society, and which should be formulated with courtesy
and never question the attitude of our so-called "comrades" male, which however did not
escape the patriarchal culture of society.
As with all reactionary whether Jean-Marie Le Pen or racist uncle in the family meals,
homophobic, lesbophobic, transphobic or anti-feminists are systematically mininim?s: While
some recognize that the text of Escudero is a text "provocative," "pamphleteer" perhaps
even "clumsy" they, and they refuse to talk about oppression reports! It is heartbreaking
to see that this rhetoric, which returns every time we denounce oppression, finds its
place in anarchist circles.
Participants in the action have been accused of violence against people who interposed.
But said the past? One of them, a communiqu?6 said a few days later: " Thus, in spite of
sensory evidence, scientific, rational to the contrary, it can be said that the woman is a
man, or vice versa or nothing, all this is only the result of social determinism. Those
who agree to be born male or female are essentialist, whether they are in the majority .
" This is not only an essentialist argument, since it confuses biology and social status
but also transphobic, which in practice denies the right to existence and recognition of
trans people (under the guise of pseudo-arguments -scientifique and because they and they
would be a minority). Transphobia that participating in the action also had to undergo
during their boycott operation; another defender Escudero, meanwhile, quietly compared
homosexuality to bestiality.
We ask ourselves, the real problem is that the reaction of feminists face this kind of
talk was "aggressive" or on the contrary, people who gossip openly transphobic and
homophobic can have their place in an event that claims libertarian?
There are two years, feminists and LGBT activists, including comrades of the CGA,
conducted a similar action against greenhouse gases (Study Group on tHe sexism), a
masculinist group invited to speak during the Fortnight Equality. The mode of action was
exactly the same and was intended to prevent the debate from taking place, since the GES
offers a reactionary and dangerous ideology for accession to our most fundamental rights.
On that day, no one had found the action "violent". Yet it was similar to the one
conducted Saturday. But Saturday's actions put the anarchist milieu Lyon before his own
sexism, its own homophobia, transphobia its own, its own submission to the patriarchal
system which also characterizes the rest of society when some would like to believe they
are worth better than the socialists, the liberals, the apolitical, these fascist ... with
whom they would like to have nothing in common.
Since the issue of violence was laid, tackle it head on: while some were shouting insults
on participating in the action, held homophobic or transphobic (not to mention
misogynistic behavior), asking them to accept the debate , defending the man whose person
(other than us), had apparently he read the book ... no, at no time did asked if this
book, these attitudes were not them- as violent.
Invite a transphobic author lesbophobic, misogynistic, yes, it's violent: it is explained
that even in anarchist circles, women and LGBT people do not have their place. Giving
voice to someone who questions their existence and that of our comrades, yes, it is
violent. And while some found the action "violent", it might be time to think, and they
realize that this is a response to greater violence than some pushing and shoving, a
violence that endangers the existence and rights of women and LGBT people, and up to
justify their murder. The organizers were unable to see the violence, because he does not
suffer because it does not interest them, and because it is easier for them to attack a
distant boss that their "comrade" aggressor .dropoff window
The consequences of the action
The action has received support from some organizers. But the overall reaction organizer /
trainers, a part of the audience, and the subsequent reactions published on various sites
allowed us to see, if he had still not taken into account feminist and LGBT issues in the
anarchist milieu. Rather than wanting absolutely discuss with PMA anyone, we believe it is
more urgent that a number of our comrades finally make serious questions of misogyny,
homophobia, lesbophobia and transphobia.
Faced with the rise of anti-feminism, homophobia, lesbophobia and transphobia, not just in
the AKI for All but also in our community, we invite our fellow anarchist, feminist and
LGBT vigilance towards confusionists discourse that including propagate within the "middle
libertarian".
We also welcome the healthy reaction SOUTH Education union which, for reasons identical to
ours, decided to suspend cooperation with the group and Parts Hand Work.
Finally, we invite our anarchist, feminist and LGBT comrades to disrupt or prevent the
expression of about lesbophobic, misogynist, transphobic and anti-feminists take our class
enemies, including Escudero belongs.
