Donetsk, a city in southeastern Ukraine is scene of clashes between pro Russian
separatists and Ukrainian population. A libertarian communist activist who lives there and
athletics, he gave us some tools to understand what are the forces present and the
libertarian movement lethargy of reasons. ---- What is the situation in Ukraine? ---- Life
continues with two parallel realities: people continue with their daily lives, with
children around, with the same place of the dead, violence, hatred. The division of
society is reinforced every day. It is a political revolution of the national bourgeoisie,
in a context of civil war and a poorly disguised intervention of Russia. ---- What is the
social composition of southeastern protesters and Maidan? ---- Maidan and Southeast
separatists do not differ much from each other. The two group a variety of social classes,
intellectuals, employed (them), entrepreneurs, large farmers, students, lupemproletariado,
former military... Everyone turned hostages and puppets of economic clans.
People Maidan put in power new oligarchies and southeast of the people no longer sleep
because of the president's family of deposed Yanoukovitch and his master in Moscow. All
this rhetoric is perfumed by nationalism as a result of bleeding wounds and cholera for
decades. In fact, the enemy is in the Kremlin, the US Capitol and the German parliament.
The Maidan leaders as well as the separatist leaders, are fractions of the national
bourgeoisie and its radical components.
In the east, they intimidate people with the right party Pravyi Sektr (Right Sector), and
call them to combat fascism, even if they are inspired by the imperial fascism of the
Russian nation. In Donetsk, according to your logic, you can choose to be Russian or be a
fascist. In a word, you are slaughtered or dead. This happened in Maidan happens now and
in the southeast.
What can be said about the referendum of May 11 (1)?
It is a referendum marked by its observer without voting stations and under the watchful
eye of people in disguise. It was a farce entered on a strategy to create independent
republics popular, and then ask for admission to the Russian Federation. But it has a
large proportion of people of Donetsk and its region that are supporters of a united
Ukraine. The separatists are better organized, have the best administrative resources and
the support of the neighboring state, that's all.
You think you have Russian experts in the southeast?
I do not think, I'm sure. And many among them are the training bases in the regions of
Donetsk and Lugansk, where groups 400-500 residents and volunteers from Russia train under
the direction of military instructors (...) Most people who defend the separatist flag are
residents, workers ordinary or military veterans. But a significant number and organizes
the process with authority, is made up of volunteers from Russia. The supply of arms and
money from Russia. The current head of government in Donetsk, which proclaims itself
"People's Republic", is Boroday. Strategy designed by the Kremlin administration.
Do you have any possibility of protests were transformed into a social revolution?
It is currently an unlikely scenario. A social revolution is possible only in the presence
of two factors: a demand of the masses for a radical transformation and revolutionary bias
of political organization of anarchists who will be able to defend the process of change.
In fact, there is no demand for a social revolution. The only change is imagined within
the policy framework. And even these timid shoots of anti-authoritarianism that might
manifest if they are not supported by a strong revolutionary and anti-authoritarian
organization, will be destroyed by the political agenda of the bourgeoisie and the
nationalist parties.
What are the prospects for anarchists in the current context?
The main problem of the anarchist movement is the absence of an anarchist organization.
Anarchists have been unable to use the situation because they are tied to
anti-organisationists illusions.
The organization is an incubator, a school, a society of mutual support and a productive
platform for ideas and projects; but more importantly, it is an instrument for the
realization of ideas, an instrument of influence and an instrument of struggle. It can not
be replaced by affinity groups.
Anarchists today, as in 1917, lost the opportunity to be influential in the process. The
RKAS (2) claiming the platformist anarchism of Makhno survived many crises if implying the
miners' strike, and had many long-term projects, but have not been without disagreement
and internal divisions.
We can remember the anti-electoral propaganda of the breakup of RKAS, the Mezhdunarodnyj
Souz Anarkhistov [ 3 ] in Donetsk. The divisive argued about prentenso authoritarianism of
RKAS. Once released from the "dictatorship of the organizational office RKAS" which made
them go to the mines and mills advertise the newspaper Anarchy , and discuss with the
trade unions and cooperatives, and build a "black guard" self-disciplined, they showed
their strategic and ideological capabilities pasting handmade posters containing the
message "Do not go to the elections, eat vegetables."
All attempts to build an organization through RKAS project led to a crusade against
"authoritarianism and extremism." Finally anarchists have become the biggest obstacle to
anarchy. We refer to this paradox to call your attention to this old disease
"anti-organization", destructive and irresponsible (...) Perhaps the RKAS reborn realizing
all your mistakes and modernizing, perhaps we will create something new (... ) We do not
abandon us and not disappear.
What are you engaged now?
Unfortunately I can not tell you everything. Otherwise, a lot of people and myself will
have many problems, and we have many plans for the future. Officially the RKAS was
dissolved, but its core moves in illegal actions.
