The term "biochemical ecology" was coined in 1986 by a Moscow University scientist, Sergei A. Ostroumov [Sergei Andreevich Ostroumov, Сергей Андреевич Остроумов].
In 1986, Moscow University Press (Moscow) published his book entitled 'Introduction to Biochemical Ecology' (1986, Moscow, 176 p.).
In 1990, Nauka Press (Moscow) published the second edition of this book entitled 'Introduction to Problems of Biochemical Ecology' (co-authored with M. Telitchenko).
