» World,US,GMOs are killing butterflies! Take Action.
|
| | | Dear, With your help we’re raising the alarm on industrial agriculture's poisoning of our planet with its use of GMOs and pesticides, including the frightening impact on bees and other pollinators.
Take action with our allies at Friends of the Earth (FOE), who are calling attention to the dramatic drop in the monarch butterfly population.
The monarch’s decline is linked to the huge increase in GMO crops engineered to tolerate Monsanto’s Roundup™ herbicide.
Increased application of Roundup™ is wiping out milkweed, the only food young monarchs eat.
That’s why Green America is joining FOE in calling on the USDA and EPA to stop approving pesticide-resistant GMO crops and the toxic chemical pesticides that accompany them.
Monarchs, like bees, are a “canary in the coal mine.”
This iconic species is only the tip of the iceberg -- a wide variety of pollinators and other insects, including many that benefit farmers, are also rapidly disappearing, along with the birds, mammals and other predators that feed on them.
Take this important action today, and tell the EPA and USDA to stop approving pesticide-resistant genetically engineered crops and to instead promote non-toxic pest and weed management to the benefit of farmers, our health, our ecosystems and the precious monarch butterfly.
Thanks for all you do to make this a greener world. Todd Larsen, Corporate Responsibility Division Director Green America
