Epilepsy is the most common chronic neurological condition found in dogs. The most common treatment for canine epilepsy is anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs).

Why do some dogs respond to anti-epilepsy treatments and others don't?

New research from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) had discovered the following criteria behind a dog's poor response to treatment.

The following dogs are less likely to become seizure-free on anti-epileptic drug treatments:

• dogs that experience more than one seizure a day
• male dogs
• Border Collies and German Shepherds
