White Dog laid her paw on my shoulder before she hopped down; Puff was already holding my foot with her paw. "Don't panic, momma, the goofy baby is just playing somewhere. We'll find her."

Everybody was in the house after dinner enjoying each other's company. At one point someone asked about the absence of our darkest white dog. "Zsofia has been obsessed with bringing sticks in from the yard all afternoon. I am sure she is out there hunting for timber," I replied.

But still she did not return. Steve went to the dog door and whistled. No response. "Zsofia!" he commanded more seriously. No sound of our supercharged baby zooming up the ramp to burst through the dog door. Steve sighed and put on his shoes. The White Dog Army struggled out of comfy positions and headed out of the dog door as Steve went into the yard. I heard him calling the Sky-Eyed One. Candace went out with Skye, Daisy and Jupiter and headed in the opposite direction around the yard.

Candace stopped and went into the Studio to pick up her flashlight then closed the door again and continued her hunt. No Zsofia. Gates all locked.

Steve came back inside and began checking all of the rooms again...including the basement. Candace went to her space and checked under the bed and in the closet.

It seemed that my worst nightmare was unfolding. We all have heard the stories of family companions being dognapped from their own yards, but we were sure the WDA would have heard any unusual noises and raised a ruckus.

Something caused Candace to go back and check the Studio again. It is a tiny one room space with an itty-bitty closet and a full bathroom. Not many places to hide, but as she said "it won't hurt to check one more time."

Jupiter charged back into the house before Candace did so we knew the search was over. Our girl was totally oblivious to the concern she had caused and was struggling to get out of Candace's arms.

"I don't know how she ended up in the Studio," Candace said. "I could swear when we came in Zsofia was right behind us and I closed the door tightly." "Where was she hiding that you missed her before?" Steve asked, trying not to be amused by his Girl's antics.

"She was in the shower and had pulled the curtain totally closed. She was fast asleep. It was her starting to snore just as I was about to come back in that made me stop and check there."

I took my White Dog At Heart into my arms and held her face. "It seems like every one month of your puppiness adds 10 years to my age," I said kissing her nose.
