Because it is HARD

"We don't do it because it is easy, we do it because it is hard"

That's a typical squatter's motto. That's how you achieve real physical progress. It should be challenging, not insurmountable or boring, but challenging. That's how you grow, physically and mentally. I know I always emphasize enjoyment and flow, but that doesn't mean I don't understand the concept of resistance in order to develop. Hello! I lift weights, don't I?

Sal Khan wrote this a month ago but it is still worth reading. He describes the importance of a growth mindset and why struggling with being wrong is more valuable than learning hard facts correctly.

In particular this quote spoke to me:

"The Internet is a dream for someone with a growth mindset. Between Khan Academy, MOOCs, and others, there is unprecedented access to endless content to help you grow your mind. However, society isn’t going to fully take advantage of this without growth mindsets being more prevalent"

I think the Internet is a dream to me. Without it I would never have quit my job, never would have found a purpose outside the usual school-work-pension path, could never have learned and grown as much as I have just the last 6 months. Fortunately, I seem to have some kind of a growth mindset, despite being a muppet.
