HBO's "The Normal Heart" has won the Emmy Award for best made-for-television movie. The critically acclaimed film depicts the rise of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City between 1981 and 1984, as seen through the eyes of writer/activist Ned Weeks, the founder of a prominent HIV advocacy group.

‘Big Bang Theory,’ ‘Modern Family’ kick off Emmy Awards with early wins

LOS ANGELES — Ty Burrell of ABC's "Modern Family" and Allison Janney of CBS' "Mom" won Emmy Awards on Monday, just minutes after host Seth Meyers opened the ceremony by tweaking the broadcast networks for falling behind cable series and online newcomers when it comes to awards.

Jim Parsons wins fourth Emmy as best actor in comedy series

Jim Parsons, the lovable geek on "The Big Bang Theory," is the winner of his fourth Emmy Award for best actor in a comedy series. Parsons previously won the Emmy in 2010, 2011 and 2013 for his role as Sheldon Cooper on the hit CBS sitcom. He also was nominated in 2009 and 2012.

Wis. rally gives marriage plaintiffs send-off for appeals court hearing
