One year after the death of Clement Meric, Action antifascist activist Paris-suburbs and
Solidarity trade union, the fight against the far right is more important than ever. The
weekend of June 6 and 7 is a step to success. ---- The June 5, 2013, Clement Meric was
mortally wounded by militants Third Way, the small group of Serge Ayoub, now dissolved.
The wave of indignation is aroused quickly faded. The Prime Minister at the time spoke of
"cut to pieces right-wing groups." ---- However, it is clear that a year later, they
continue their activities openly. Worse, from June new physical assaults were perpetrated.
More recently, a far-right activist even fired a gun on a concert in support of
undocumented Clermont-Ferrand. Of course, we never had any illusion. We always thought
that the fight against fascism could not be delegated to the government or institutions.
Fascism from below
Instead, it is the social movement to organize to fight fascism in the workplace, in the
heads and in the street. The Inter-CGT Solidarity initiative-FSU January 29 at the labor
exchange in Paris [ 1 ] in this direction. The fact that these three organizations have
called for a common text to participate in events of June 7 is positive.
Indeed, the weekend of June 6 and 7 will be marked by two events:
a music festival over two days organized by the Committee for Clement, who is both a
tribute and a concert in support of the committee;
a single event that will start from the Place de la Bastille to 14h June 7
The event is not intended as a time of remembrance. She wants a policy initiative, a
moment of struggle. For the fight against the far right is far from won. He can not be in
the unit. As such, it is also unfortunate that the 80 organizations called for the
demonstration of June 23, 2013 following the death of Clement Meric in a runaway media
period, many do not give any sign of life to arrange that the June 7, 2014.
Mobilize around
Nevertheless, trade unions, political and community organizers of the event June 7 parties
have launched the construction of the initiative. A year later, it is essential to the
success of this event as well as local initiatives to be held in different cities. It will
be an opportunity to remind the political dimension of the attack, denouncing media
manipulation or political speeches that refer back to back fascists and antifascists.
Above all, they will mark the refusal reactionary ideas currently in progress.
