March for Freedom
The March for Freedom has arrived last friday. This is a report from the actionweek in Bruxelles. On sunday june 23rd over 100 people from France and over 100 people from Italy has arrived. Regfugees from Berlin and Amsterdam are worried about the struggle in the occupied schule and Havenstraat; Both refugeehouses are about to be evicted. Actions have been planned at the german and dutch embassy´s this tuesday. Today there will be an action at the NATO-building.
Unbelievebly just next to the camp an office for asylumseekers is situated. This morning refugees and activists started to inform the people standing in line for the Immigrationoffice to start an asylumprocedure in Bruxelles. From Belgium activists the information has been given that on an average day 20 asylumseekers get arrested in that office and will be sent to detentioncenters to get deported. The so called, Dublin claiments, people who have given their fingerprints in another country before or who have had a forner asylumprocedure in another country, are send to go this office by the Red Cross. In stead of help they get arrested after the office has found those people in the computersysteem. They will be imprisoned and eventually deported. This immigratiooffice is in the WTCbuilding. But no trade of goods in there, except a little shoppingcenter. The main ´trade´in this WTCbuilding is the transportation of humans. Refugees and activists informed the people standing in line, a long growing que in the early morning, and they managed to get one asylumseeker out of this line/que to get help by a good lawyer first. He could have been deported once he would have entered the building. So we gave him help to bring him to a good lawyer. That the Red Cross is bringing people to this office, sending them, is an example of the rotten elements in the systeem. Who could think of the Red Cross is doing bad to the people because of the law of Dublin. So now we wille have action at this evil building all week. Sunday there was a demonstration at the trademarket and a visit to the church which has given hospitality to Afghan asylumseekers. They have been given shelter while this church is still having service; The priest was blamed for doing that but now he is getting honours for doing this. It was amazing to see this shelter in the church. At the end of this week the European Summit of Immigration will take place in Bruxelles. A large demonstration will be held when the Merkels, Camerons, Ruttes and Hollandes will meet. Busses from Amsterdam to Bruxelles will go on thursday 26th, returntrips.
