White Dog said, "Ask them, momma! You know our Blog family can work miracles. Remember Quinn's story."
Those who followed us for a long time may remember the story of how our Mighty Quinn came to be the first member of the White Dog Army. It was a tremendous cooperation of those all across the country to rescue and bring the scared boy on deathrow in California to us before he ran out of time. He was miraculously delivered a mere day before his time was up and this gentle soul came to be the founding member of the White Dog Army...and the beginning therapy in teaching newly arrived Michael how to love.
Now again, we turn to our family to help us bring a little boy home to the White Dog Ranch. Shadow, who will become Sacchi (Happy) was Oso's last request. In the last days before he left us Oso was determined to find just the perfect recruit for us. And he did.
Sacchi is a younger boy, small like Oso ("Someone has to remind my big brothers to always watch out for the little guy.") He is disabled with throat scarring and breathing issues arising from a botched debarking surgery and then a "fix" that made things worse. He needs a family that understands the special needs of an oxygen kennel, a trained eye and knowledge of how to handle breathing emergencies. "Momma, we can DO this," Oso said excitedly when we saw his story. "We have LOTS of experience and everything needed because of Puff." And once we talked to the rescue, we were able to convince them that risky cosmetic surgery to attempt to internally scrape away the throat webbing in order to possibly make him more adoptable was unnecessary. Together Oso and I filled out an adoption application with White Dog's blessing. I hoped Oso would get to meet his new brother but sadly we received approval just two days after Oso left for the Bridge...but he knows.
Here is where we need the help of our family. PLEASE! I know it is incredibly nervy to ask our community to provide TWO miracles for the White Dog Army but here is where we come when there seems no other magic in the world...no other hope.
Sacchi is in California. The ERU folks (Eskie Rescuers United) can get him to Yuma AZ...we need help in getting Sacchi home to Albuquerque. We can drive partway but with Steve's work and school schedule we cannot make the full trip...and because of his breathing issues, Sacchi cannot get a health certificate to fly.
We have the word out to our rescue contacts and ERU is trying to build an Eskie railroad but so far we have had no luck. Your help would be a lasting tribute to our Fearless Little Man and would give another boy a chance for a loving family life...the WDA promises to cherish and treat him well.
If you can help in any way...PLEASE contact us via email: sehismith@aol.com or on FaceBook or let Angel Merritt at ERU know. We hate to ask but know of no better place to turn.
Thank you.
