Lieven Laureys was born in a creative family. His father was a jazz-musician and his mother a painter. Even before birth Lieven listened to musicians from Mozart to Pat Metheny due to his father who always used to play these records. But Lieven only really fell in love with jazz and soul when he went to the North Sea Jazz – Festival for the first time. That day he said to himself : « This is it! This is what I want to do with my life! I want to be a musician! »

His music is sometimes instrumental, sometimes vocal and always in between jazz and soul. When he’s playing we get the impression he’s in heaven and his music makes us feel warm and good. The rhythm varies and the music is always full of life. The piano tells us fantastic tales while the story told in lyrics is clear and makes us think deeply about life at times. It is a wonderful experience to listen to this great music and I recommend it to everyone!
