From April 7 to 13, 2014, Lakota Omniciye student organization at Black Hills University will be hosting a wacipi (which means event, party, or powwow). If you live close enough to attend, be sure to check out the organization's website.
Even if you live nowhere near the Black Hills of South Dakota, you can spend a week learning more about American Indians.

There's a lot to learn. The different peoples have different languages and dances and cultures, different traditions and legends, different histories and ways of life. Here are a few resources to get you started:
- Mr. Donn has collected a lot of links to explore various groups of Indians.
- I have gathered some interesting links on a Pinterest board.
- Mr. Nussbaum offers interactive maps and other interactive pages. Including what he calls “an interactive buffalo”!
- Here is a fact sheet specifically about the Lakota.
