(en) France, Alternative Libertaire AL - April 12 in Paris: socialism or barbarism (fr, pt)

No, the street does not belong to the "AKI for all", "French Spring", "Day of Wrath" Red
Hats and other gogos dieudonnis?s! Yes, there is a social opposition, and even
anti-capitalist government PS-MEDEF. This is the show on April 12. ---- What can happen
when the extreme right and the wider reaction saturate the airwaves, web and occupy the
streets without hindrance? They gain confidence, say that their ideas are progressing and
that the ideological battles that lead call for political and electoral translations. And
meanwhile these tomorrows, they occupy the land by all means - including physical
violence. ---- What happens when the government Ayrault Holland leads antisocial policy,
to the detriment of the working classes, with 85 billion gift to the bourgeoisie (split
between the liquidation of the Social Security and the utilities)? What happens when that
power is negotiating a free trade blowing new social and environmental locks in favor of
capitalists with its Western counterparts?

In the absence of political and union at the height of the situation response, it can only
result in demoralization, and demobilization despair ... The impression of no longer
having to choose between ultra-liberalism and fascism ... to like what is happening in
Ukraine.

A march against austerity, racism and reaction

These are the questions that led the NPA, during February, to offer all organizations
fighting the government (including AL) join forces to reclaim the streets massively on the
occasion of a "weekend Revolt left. "

Some of them have captured this idea and came together in a unitary group to organize,
April 12, a march directed against both the austerity and anti-immigrant-es of the
government against the extreme right and reaction. They also affirm the need to build
"momentum for ecological and feminist social, democratic alternative, based on
solidarity." Finally, they want this appointment is not no tomorrow.

To date, dozens of organizations have decided to support this initiative and mobilize.

Among them there are many political organizations like the NPA, Alternative libertarian,
but also those of the Left Front (PCF, PG, GU, OFC, GA, Alternative, Fase, C & A), union
structures (CGT-Finance CGT Public-Services, CGT Ile-de-France, FSU, SUD-PTT, SOUTH
Education, Health ... SOUTH), associations Right to housing, APEIS, Attac, the Fondation
Copernic ...

The AL position

Libertarian Alternative, it is necessary to launch initiatives with executives
mobilization up to the situation. It takes time to develop and mass struggles to reclaim
the street as political space to build an anti-authoritarian and libertarian
self-management alternative.

AL decision to be part of the march on April 12 took into account three factors: its
strengths, limitations, and the flexibility that AL had to express themselves and even
weigh on the unit content.

There was no question for AL endorse an initiative that does not attack the government
clearly PS-EELV, or suggests that the working class needed a "real government left."
Ultimately, not only the call is clear on these two points, but AL, with other
organizations, played a decisive role in this regard.

However, difficulties were real, and can be a handicap in this initiative.

Several political organizations (NPA, then PG and PCF) have proclaimed Indeed, with drums
and trumpets, that the idea of a march on April 12 they were from. This way of seeking to
"label" the initiative was not likely to facilitate the gathering, and many social
movement organizations have protested against this pettiness.

This has been the main obstacle to the participation of trade unions and social movement
that, in a context of weakness and dispersion struggles (except in Notre-Dame-des-Landes),
struggling to make their voices heard.

However, these organizations were involved from beginning to end all the discussion phase
of this initiative. This demonstrates both a willingness to be present in the street, and
a strong reluctance to the politicians methods. For a number of unions, May 1, fifteen
days later, offers the opportunity to be everyone together in the street, without the
inconvenience of shenanigans of the Left Front.

This is not true. The problem is that May 1 has a ritual character, and that comparison of
Day of Wrath scheduled for April 4-5, it will palely routine. Without embarrassment on May
1, a date of April 12 national convergence will we hand out of the ordinary.

The other factor of appreciation for AL was able to weigh more on this initiative being
inside and outside. Not surprisingly, the Left Front will try to make this day an
operation in the service of his campaign. Not surprisingly, unions, associations fighting,
anti-capitalist and libertarian who will be there also will hear their own side of the
story. AL will do anything for it.

Libertarian struggle can not be reduced to the deadlines of April 12 or May 1, but he can
rely on, it must be of the highlights of capitalist and self-managed expression. Our
struggles should not express a revolt, but clearly set the terms of a revolutionary
alternative to the grim choice we are offered: liberal or fascist barbarism.
