(en) France, Alternative Libertaire AL #235 - Fight against the major useless projects: Three days to say NO (fr, pt)

3rd European Forum against large and imposed unnecessary projects (Stuttgart, July 2013)
was erected on December 8 daytime simultaneous action. Ile-de-France, it is three days of
mobilization that took place against three development projects. ---Two large unnecessary
projects (GPI) challenged Ile-de-France are part of the Grand Paris. This is Europa City
(Auchan) to Gonesse (Val d'Oise) and the center of scientific and industrial research
provided on the Plateau de Saclay (Essonne). The third-Ivry Confluences, falls in the same
general logic metropolisation and gentrification in the Paris region. ---- Market forces
and capitalist bidding ---- That were common to these three projects? Economic nonsense,
the ideology of growth-competition between territories, and the technocrat contempt for
resident populations, that is to say, the entire current population Ile.

"Europa City", with 250 hectares of shops, nail supply for leisure ... Skiing. Healing the
housing bubble, it will compete with an already oversupply of malls and attraction, create
precarious jobs after destroying existing jobs. We will build on today's farmland triangle
Gonesse (700 ha). The company Immochan even ripped a service by the Grand Paris Express
automated metro, with a station in open fields. But there are other new areas of very
expensive transport, which will leave no chance to land and the economy are over today. In
fact, these transport anticipate urbanization triangle Gonesse without relying on the
current needs of the inhabitants and residents.

A Ivry, no ecological problems but the scenario is that the public expects an even more
obvious gentrification. The Ivry-Port area should be redesigned, with the construction of
5,600 housing (but only 280 social, besides the removal and preliminary destruction of
some 400 units), 60,000 square feet of facilities and shops, all to digest with voters
construction of 570,000 m? of offices, while 3.7 million are already empty in the Paris
region. This time Bouygues is maneuvering. A Saclay finally farmland of high quality seem
already sacrificed more or less long term to accommodate the huge campus Paris-Saclay,
concentration of researchers and students who returned to create a new city ( 240,000 units).

These three days are to be regarded as the result of the initiative of "convergence of
struggles" last March, which saw support to meet the Notre-Dame-des-Landes in
Ile-de-France and in the collective fight against the various projects of the Grand Paris,
gathered in solidarity for the Coordination territories in Ile-de-France (COSTIF). The
joint action around 8 December means that the relationship lasted as new collective
control can unite or at least acknowledge - in particular on the analysis of
gentrification. But for now except these three days there are few forces available for a
real work of coordination, and COSTIF is not a tool for fighting really fighting [ 1 ]. As
for the far-left movements, they may benefit from doing more policy around the Grand Paris
- as did the collective Ivry with a towing daily door-to-door - as radical critics would
very audible .
