And now we have a blizzard

Getting out before the storm
Spring is in 8 days. It was a nice enough day yesterday to go for a long walk with my old dog who for the 2nd time this winter did not wear his plaid coat. It was still windy enough that I stayed snuggled up in a hoodie, winter coat and gloves as I am chilled to the bone if there is a cold wind. I can't wait to ditch the winter gear, though.

I could barely look out the window this morning after hearing of a snow storm heading our way. This feels like an awfully long winter with no breaks whatsoever. I think it may be the end of April before we see a hint of grass and early Spring flowers show their face.

Joe has been allowed to roam the basement whenever the need arises and he loves it down there. In a 120 year old house like ours the basements are often just crawl-spaces. We are lucky to have enough room to walk around in ours and it provides us with plenty of storage space. It is all rock (and junk) and Joe has found a ledge that he loves to sit on when the need to be alone hits him. It's his get-away.
Rae-Rae had a grooming session yesterday and I was able to clean up a few wee knots that had developed over the last few weeks. She purred and rolled around while I combed her and only once gave me a quick look when it tugged a bit. I gave her some hairball gel right from the tube which she lapped up. She loved all the extra attention and slept away the afternoon.

Rae-Rae now watching the blizzard today.

(outside my kitchen window)

Yes, it is snowing and blowing out there and will continue until after midnight.  Temperature is to drop to -22C. I hope everyone stays safe on the roads tonight.

Still waiting for Spring.
