At the beginning, the joint struggle was focused on specific routes of the separation
fence. There were some achievements and many villages dropped from the regular struggle.
The hope for a wide spread popular struggle was not fulfilled, but additional struggles
were initiated and the struggles networked with sporadic joint actions. Lately the network
of joint popular struggles started regular actions - the Ein Hijleh is the second one. The
continued struggle draw the international attention and give essential base to the B.D.S.
The persistent struggle saw seeds in the subterranean ferment that may sprout without a
warning in the appropriate conditions. The persistence and the approaching avalanche of
the B.D.S. energize the more far sighted activists. The joint struggle in Bil'in, Ni'ilin,
Ma'asara, Nebi Saleh, Shikh Jarrah, Quaddum, and South of Hebron Hills keep going and hold
the flag of struggle high.

"The Palestinian coordination of the popular struggles Launch ?Melh Al-Ard? Campaign by
Reviving Ein Hijleh Village in the Jordan Valley"
Hundreds of Palestinians announced today the launching of ?Melh Al-Ard? (Salt of the
Earth) campaign by reviving the village of Ein Hijleh in the Jordan Valley on land
belonging to the Orthodox Church and St. Gerassimos monastery. The campaign is launched in
refusal of Israeli policies aimed at Judaizing and annexing the Jordan Valley.
Campaign organizers and participants declared:
We, the daughters and sons of Palestine, announce today the revival of Ein Hijleh village
as part of Melh Al-Ard campaign in the Jordan Valley. The action aims at refusing the
political status quo, especially given futile negotiations destroying the rights of our
people for liberation and claim to their land.
Accordingly we have decided to revive an old Palestinian Canaanite village in the Jordan
Valley next to so called ?Route 90? linking the Dead Sea to Bisan. The action is part of a
continuous step against the Israeli occupation?s plan to take over and annex the Jordan
Valley. This step is a popular act against Israeli oppression of the Palestinian people
and the constant Judaization of the land.
From the village of Ein Hijleh, we the participants announce that we hold tight to our
right to all occupied Palestinian lands. We refuse Kerry?s Plan that will establish a
disfigured Palestinian state and recognizes the Israeli entity as a Jewish State. Such a
state will turn Palestinians living inside lands occupied in 1948 into residents and
visitors that can be deported at anytime. We affirm the unity of our people and their
struggle wherever they are for our inalienable rights.....
... Based on our support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions Movement (BDS) we call
upon our friends and international solidarity groups to stand with the demands of the
Palestinian people and boycott all Israeli companies including Israeli factories and
companies that work in the Jordan Valley and profit from Palestinian natural resources...?
Over 300 Palestinians participate in the action which started Friday in parallel to the
regular joint struggles. More than 100 Palestinian activists manage to cross a flying
Israeli Army Checkpoint on their way to Ein Hijleh
establishing now a new Palestinian village "Ein Hijleh" in the Jordan Valley

"Israeli occupation forces are now surrounding Ein Hijlah village and shoot sporadic fire
around to terrorize the activists...The Israeli occupation forces are getting ready to
storm the village and evict the the activists... but due to international attention
restricted to sporadic harassments like confiscated the water brought to our village by
the medical relief team so we decided to go and reclaim it back from the soldiers and we
succeeded. Afterwards we had a little protest on the main road to send out a message that
no one confiscates what is ours!"

Monday morning BREAKING: The army is raiding the village in these moments. 4 jeeps of
Israeli Forces and 10 soldiers are raiding the village, trying to enter Ein Hijleh,
pushing the youths and looking for confrontation. It seems they are counting how many
people are in the village.
Photos of the Israeli forces raiding the village as we try to figure out why they are
raiding and our attempt to stop them, we finally managed to kick them out!

Tuesday noon and the Israeli state forces are still refraining from the full eviction of
the activists.

The Israeli military treated the protesters with silk gloves, let them advance further
(inside the village) than usual, and fired relatively symbolic amounts of tear gas
canisters (directly at our faces).
Why?? because of the (coordinated) presence of a UN observer.
Of course, the shabab still stoned the invading force of complacent armored soldiers.

One of the officers took the effort to talk/lecture the crowed. Here's some of his gems:
"Thank you for not throwing the rock"
"you don't come forward and we go back now..."
"Maybe we can work this out"
"Thank you for stop throwing stones, that is very mature of you"
Wanna know what every other demo (and most every other day) in Kufr Qaddum looks like?

Sheikh Jarrah
The residents of Sheikh Jarrah are continuing their protest vigils in the neighborhood
every Friday, protesting their violent evictions from their homes, the taking over of the
neighborhood by the settlers, and the Judaization of East Jerusalem.
South of Hebron Hills
Harassment of Palestinian farmers and shepherds in South Hebron hills by both settlers and
the army continues. These forces take over their lands and prevent them from accessing it.
This Saturday, February 1st, we will be heading again to our activity in several locations
in the area, accompany Palestinian farmers and shepherds to their lands and help them
stand up for their rights.
Without the presence of activists, many farmers don't get the chance to cultivate their
land. There is a direct link between the number of activists who come to accompany the
farmers and their ability to live a relatively normal life.

Don't Say We Didn't Know 398
On Monday, January 20, 2014, the Israeli army ordered residents of the Palestinian Jordan
Valley villages of Ibzik (north of Tubas) and Khirbet Yarza (east of Tubas) to evacuate
their villages for a while, due to army maneuvers in the area. The villagers refused. The
army carried out its maneuvers around them, and they had to remain indoors.
On Wednesday January 22, 2014, the Israeli army demolished two homes in Ibzik and two
homes in Khirbet Yarza. It also demolished another 16 livestock pens in both villages.

On Monday January 20, 2014, government agents escorted by police arrived and demolished
yet again the Bedouin village of Al Arakib in the Negev. The police arrested one of the
villagers and released him the next day. Another resident was also arrested the next day.
