Libertarian Alternative participates in events organized around the 20th anniversary of
the Zapatista uprising. Come and discover numerous to discuss, reminisce and dream "un
mundo donde quepan muchos mundos" ---- What is already the Zapatistas? ---- On 1 January
1994, the EZLN (Zapatista National Liberation Army) took by force several towns in Chiapas
in southern Mexico, declared war on "bad government" and proclaimed "ya basta! "," Enough!
"Injustice, holdings of discrimination, poverty. ---- Applicant arms a few weeks after the
Zapatistas chose to continue the struggle peacefully and with Mexican and international
civil society to demand the autonomy of indigenous peoples of Chiapas and respect for
their rights and claims: Labour, Land, Housing, Food , Health, Education, Independence,
Freedom, Democracy, Justice, Peace.
The San Andres, Signs in 1996 between the EZLN and the government negotiators, met the
requirements of the Zapatistas. But they never were applied by successive governments.
Instead, the Zapatistas suffer from constant repression (military incursions into their
territories, imprisonment, etc.)., Like most social movements and indigenous Mexico.
Despite the political and military harassment, the Zapatistas have recovered the control
over a part of the ancestral lands of their peoples. They collectivises land illegally
monopolized by large land owners, and have set up their own systems of government, health,
education and justice.
The egalitarian operation, democratic, free and united that governs all initiatives and
activities Zapatistas make their movement a unique example in the world society free of
all forms of domination.
Always willing to share their experiences and their struggle, the Zapatistas drives and
participated in many international dynamics.
The last date in the "small school" (small school), a kind of popular university held in
Zapatista communities, or people around the world are alles discover the political, social
and economic organization established by the Zapatistas.
Come learn, exchange, support, criticize or praise the movement in different activities
organized in February.
